Just back from a month in France, rode around Sospel, the Var and the Verdon. Great riding and ace weather. Planning on going out again in May but not really sure where.

Looking for a decent network of trails with techy descents, not too techy climbing and nice weather and no more than two days drive from Calais (in a slow van). Have been thinking of Italy but any other suggestions would be welcome.

Where have you been that has been good?

    No one ? 😕

Anyone know what the weather in the Vosges is like at that time?
Anyone used the lift/train network in the Valais? would May be too early?
Anyone ridden in the Tarn or around St Remo/Finale?

Vosges France, and the black forest germany, they are actually quite close together, easy to combine the two into a single trip.

There will be some lifts open in Valais (Wallis), but only the ones serving the towns up on the hill. You’d get a good bit of riding in between Wallis and Ticino in Switzerland.

Other thoughts are the Drome and Ardeche, any one ridden there?

Think the Vosges/Valais will be too unpredictable in terms of weather so they are out of the running.
