I was always told to try not to look at the neck when playing 🙂

I respect his skill but don't care much for his songs.

While I am sure that he is technically very gifted……I find that really boring…..particularly the bit before the drums & bass start up.

    Even then it's pretty monotonous…..
I prefer this kind of guitar stuff…..

I'm with tyger and stumpy01 on this. The first 3 minutes reminded me of listening to the Orb in my younger days; a bit of pleasant nothingness that's good for nodding off to. The next couple of minutes I found a bit tuneless and dull and then when the poodle-perm rock bit kicked in I gave up.

I'd never have the skill to play it though, so fair play

Aah! The good old days of guitar playing as an athletic event! Let's have no hint of a tune! 👿

I remember EJ as the prat who claimed he could hear the difference between different manufacturers batteries, when used in effects pedals.

To this day I cannot tell whether it was a wind up at some precious journo or not. Having read other interviews, I tend towards him being serious! 😯

I appreciate Erics playing very much – managed to stay out of the blues/rock box and I love his singing songs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxuEFUKJQwk – great song, great playing.

I managed to sit through an entire satriani gu=ig once – mind numbingly boring.

I prefer ther Dominic Miller http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bY_jpJGadU

or Tim Pierce http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YZ4tOrXxuk at 4:36.

Man, all that 'guitarist' stuff just leaves me cold.

Never could understand why technical playing appealed. I'd rather hear something a lot less technical played with feeling than this stuff. And all that strato thin weedy sound, eurgggh.

Oh, Trampus, I always thought that battery quote about EJ was the most interesting thing about him…

How about Satriani, Vai and Malmstein rocking in the free world?
