Recently bought an (ex demo) bike mail order. The front caliper had leaked in the box when it arrivd and the rear wheel axle is bent on further inspection. This is all before I have even ridden it.

They want me to return the full bike at their cost for checking. Trouble is, that I’ve already swapped out the cranks and bb. The old cranks aren’t going back on cos I damaged the bb taking it out.

Should they still accept the bike back for ‘investigation’ as the faults are unrelated to what I’ve swapped out? I haven’t queried this with them yet, and I’m in no way complaining, but if it were me I’d rather just post back the wheel and the front brake – cos I have the spares to get on and ride the bike in the mean time.
