Hannah is out at the Sea Otter Classic in California, USA. It’s a four day festival of racing and a huge expo area. There are races for every type of bike, but there’s a strong leaning towards mountain biking, and if you want to see new products, prototypes, and unique bikes, it’s the place to be. This prototype carbon gravel bike from Vitus is aimed squarely at the fast gravel end of things, leaving the adventure and bike packing stuff to the Vitus Substance.
It shares some similarities with Vitus endurance road bikes, and will come in a choice of road and gravel build options, though both will have an aero and speed focus when it comes to build kit.
It’ll take up to 700x45C tyres, and can be 1x or 2x. The road builds will come with 2x drivetrains.
Builds will be speed focussed, with carbon wheels, aero-ish leanings with internal routing, including a FSA ACR headset.
The seat stays attach to the seat tube below the height of the top tube to help give a little comfort to the ride for long days in the saddle. Think endurance road racing or big USA style gravel events. You get a pair of bottle bosses on the seat tube and three on the down tube.
It’s expected to be launched at the end of the year, with prices similar to the Vitesse.
