Event: Dirty Boar Gravel Ride

by 0

It’s not a race, it’s an event, with a mass start to ‘stimulate the group feeling’. If you fancy 170km of riding around Belgium then this put the 9th September 2017 in your diary and head on over to register for the ride here.
The exact details of the route will only be revealed a few weeks before the event, but it’s scheduled to go through some fairly remote countryside, so you should carry enough food and water to cover the distance between feed stations: 60-70km. As ever, you should come prepared to fix the kinds of things which might well go wrong as you rattle along tracks and trails in search of #dirtydropbargoodness. You should also not seek to ride the route outside of the event, as some trails have only been given permission to be ridden for the day of the event – the rest of the time they are protected or private.

Dirty Boar Gravel Ride 2017 promoclip from VZW De Vettige Swa's on Vimeo.

Most of the route will be hard-pack dirt of gravel roads, and the organisers are keen to stress that the gravel bike you are already riding will probably be fine, you don’t need anything special for this event. The promotional video gives a little taster of what you might expect.
Entries have just opened, cost 40EUR and include timing, feed stations plus a drink and food at the end of the ride. For more information check out their Facebook page or their website.
