Lots of interest in it as a complete bike but sadly no takers, so now selling as frameset for £995 (frame & fork plus Chris King headset). This is ridiculous value for such a high quality frameset that is in near-new condition (see reason below).
I had this made by Tom Sturdy (then Head of the UK’s Framebuilding/Bicycle Academy) in 2019. Unfortunately I suffered a heart attack in Nov 2020 and have had 3 more since(!) This bike has hardly been ridden.
Geometry chart included in pics, but equivalent to a 54/56cms ‘off the shelf’ frame. However, this is anything but off the shelf… The build quality is exceptional, as you would expect from one of the UK’s most highly regarded frame builders. The design brief Tom and I agreed was very close to the GCN handbuilt bike of Si Robertson.. (see link to YouTube video below), but in short:
- Very compact front triangle (for stiffness and light weight)
- Long seat post (for comfort)
- Super-short rear chain stays (for acceleration – it goes like a scalded cat!)
- I specced it for 2x drivetrain (obviously can run 1x as well) and up to 30mm tyres
I’m 59 years old and have been lucky enough to own some high-end bikes over the years (5 Colnago’s, 3 high-end Specialized’s, and 3 other custom/bespoke-built frames) and this rides better than all of them – yes, even better than Colnagos, it really does. In fact, I sold my last Colnago a couple of months after getting this. Tom Sturdy is one of the best frame builders in the business and his bikes are renowned for their quality and ride characteristics.
