Back in 2014, Ben Page set off on a solo round the world trip from our Premier Dealer, Blazing Saddles. In the Frozen Road he documents a solo trip through Alaska. We managed to catch up with Ben to chat about about how he made the film, what it's like to be alone and scared, and what he’s planning next.

hi welcome to singletrack worldcom I'm
0:13
Hannah and I'm here with Ben Paige today
0:16
who is back from a three-year tour
0:19
around the world on his bike something
0:23
that quite a few of us think we might
0:25
like to do or maybe dream of and then we
0:28
find ourselves in IKEA at the weekend
0:30
looking at sofas a great place to be I
0:32
was the same wondering where it all went
0:34
wrong so so Ben is actually local to
0:39
singletrack he sets off 2014-2014 with
0:47
the help from Blazing Saddles one of our
0:49
local bike shops and local premier
0:51
dealers and he started off on a surly
0:59
district district there we go Longmore
1:02
this trucker started off on that and
1:05
then ended up on the bike behind us and
1:07
so you might have seen on single track
1:10
world yesterday I put up a story about a
1:14
video called the frozen road and that is
1:17
Ben's Ben's video I thought lives
1:20
locally before he goes off around the
1:22
world again
1:23
let's let's have a look single Trek
1:25
pictures posted all on my bedroom wall I
1:28
was honored to be here so this if you
1:33
can see is is where Ben has been loved
1:37
from the bottom of the world from
1:41
Patagonia so place called yoosh wire
1:43
down at the southern tip of South
1:44
America and then from there yeah and a
1:49
bit of a bit of a plane journey so if
1:51
you look if you look on Vimeo at the
1:54
moment this is Maine frozen road movie
1:57
and a few others that he's made all the
1:59
way up here I just say I have a low
2:01
tolerance for bike movies I skip to the
2:03
end because I watch quite a lot of them
2:05
but they are entertaining and they do
2:07
give I think a more honest appraisal of
2:10
traveling than you might always say
2:12
these are little videos edited on the
2:14
fly so it's kind of small at the laptop
2:15
with me and kind of edited for two days
2:18
or something so they're not my proudest
2:20
work but they give a flavor of South
2:23
America they're still yeah they're still
2:26
fun to watch so then hopped up through
2:28
here and it's it's in kind of Whistler
2:30
that the frozen road starts around about
2:34
here so at the very bottom of the Yukon
2:36
Territory and I'm from there
2:38
Road for roughly a thousand one and a
2:41
half thousand miles from Whitehorse up
2:43
to the Arctic sea in a little town
2:45
called tie-up took and it took about a
2:47
month and as they just film the frozen
2:49
Road is chronicling that yeah on the
2:52
trip and then after the frozen road he
2:54
hopped over here through Asia through
2:57
Asia across to Istanbul and then and
3:00
then again in in Cape Town and cycle up
3:02
to Africa to Cairo and finally just just
3:05
last year late last year from Athens but
3:08
like to head to bridges but to singlet
3:11
yes and and by the time he got to us he
3:14
was telling me it's on a single speech
3:16
just gossip the gears kind of gave up
3:20
Adams Ben lives at the top of a steep
3:23
hill all right very steep hill inside me
3:27
I was going up that hill I was pretty
3:29
committed to making sure I was gonna
3:31
pedal every last every last meter of
3:34
arriving back home so and there's a in
3:36
this big gear just zigzagging up for a
3:39
little village hit the store trying to
3:40
get to the top of the hill pretty pretty
3:43
painful way to end and how many thousand
3:46
miles was it done I think somewhere
3:48
somewhere in the region of maybe 35 40
3:50
thousand I never never kept track
3:52
you didn't strive her it didn't strive
3:54
right now I'm not under Strava didn't
3:56
keep a little odometer or anything but I
3:58
think roughly in that ballpark cool so
4:02
um I've been doing my research and I was
4:05
watching Ben's early films last night um
4:08
and you start out with a group of
4:11
friends and it's kind of like holiday
4:14
except you're into a headwind like this
4:16
and it does look horrible not to go any
4:19
window down in Tierra del Fuego just
4:21
some of the most atrocious wind I think
4:23
I've ever
4:24
it's a headwind all the way we're going
4:26
in the wrong direction so I um and any
4:30
kind of on roads at that point and then
4:33
your friends go home yeah and then
4:35
you're like this is just ropes
4:36
I'm I'm just riding on roads this is an
4:40
adventure yeah so then you kind of well
4:44
I started to find that I had far more
4:47
enjoyment and gained a lot more on out
4:48
of the trip when hours off-road battling
4:50
you know to track finding bits of single
4:53
track and stuff I'd initially set off
4:55
thinking here if I'm gonna go around the
4:57
world there's no way I'm gonna do
4:58
offroad cuz it'll take too long babe so
5:01
kind of got a standards touring set up
5:02
like most people do but it was kind of
5:04
at the advent of bike packing becoming
5:06
so more equipment was coming out for
5:08
bike packing more people were sharing
5:09
routes and more resources going up
5:12
online so as I was going through South
5:15
America finding that I really just want
5:16
to be offroad having much better
5:18
experiences in my time for me anyway
5:22
but was still with with that surly bike
5:24
so it's kind of like half and half
5:25
trying to go to some exciting places but
5:28
not a Finnish flat but not get a pinch
5:30
spot and a lot just kind of completely
5:32
smashed my bike up yeah so and it sounds
5:36
like or it seems like there was an awful
5:38
lot of pushing like at one point I
5:39
wondered whether it may be a rucksack
5:41
with a scooter on the back well so so in
5:45
South America I didn't have a rucksack
5:46
with me but for the rest of the ride I
5:48
carried a small rucksack on the back of
5:49
my bike right so that when the
5:52
inevitable day or two of pushing would
5:54
happen over a mountain pass or something
5:55
I could just sling all the heavy gear I
5:57
had with me into my rucksack so I could
6:00
like pick up my suit make the bike more
6:01
portable cunning so um before we get
6:08
onto the we've got some video clips to
6:10
come up so before we get onto the the
6:12
frozen road bit that and the last bit of
6:14
the the cold stuff and what was the kind
6:19
of how do you feel having traveled on
6:22
you by yourself and with friends which
6:24
is the way to go do you think there's no
6:27
answer to that no I mean there's such
6:29
different experiences and both rewarding
6:32
and
6:33
in their own way right so they the
6:36
frozen road for example this is a period
6:38
I was on my own having to deal with some
6:40
pretty difficult circumstances on my own
6:42
it's really hard but really rewarding at
6:44
the same time and really important to to
6:46
go through that but then straight after
6:47
that I was then riding from Beijing
6:50
westwards across Asia joined by three
6:52
friends that and that was just such a
6:55
laugh so much fun like really really
6:57
enjoyable but maybe didn't attain to the
7:01
same as or like you know personal
7:03
development goals or whatever right you
7:06
might say yourself so it was really good
7:08
fun and a good laugh but didn't really
7:11
have that sort of fear factor okay which
7:15
is quite important I think it kind of if
7:17
you find something that makes you scared
7:19
often that's something that you should
7:20
probably do everything to do
7:25
okay so we'll have a little look at a
7:27
video clip of I've been alone I don't
7:32
want to be here in a place of no
7:36
experience I've never been don't really
7:39
know where I am
7:42
[Music]
7:45
so I think that people just be able to
7:48
see you kind of trudging through
7:50
knee-deep snow this is on the frozen
7:54
road where you decided that even frozen
7:57
roads weren't adventure enough and that
8:00
maybe you ought to go on a little detour
8:02
along a frozen river instead yeah well
8:05
so so for that for the for that part I
8:08
mean I've just been following a little
8:10
road called that the Dempster Highway
8:12
I've been northern Canada we did I mean
8:15
though it was unavoidable it's 500 miles
8:17
of just snowy gravel road but I mean I
8:20
didn't really want to be on roads so
8:21
much uh-huh and then found out in the
8:23
small town Fort McPherson that it's
8:25
possible to follow a river going north
8:27
and leave this this Dempster highway
8:29
behind me and that felt quite scary
8:31
prospect quite an adventurous prospect
8:33
and as I just said like you know if you
8:35
have some this scares you you should
8:37
probably go do it so I went down this
8:40
river and unfortunately it's big
8:43
snowstorm came in and kind of trapped me
8:44
on this river couldn't run my bike and
8:46
the result was there's quite a few days
8:48
of pushing and just try and get to say
8:51
I'm not gonna have too many spoilers
8:53
here you really should watch the film
8:56
because yeah it's it's not just a good
9:00
tale but you went to some efforts to
9:02
shoot it so if you if you watch it been
9:06
shot it all by himself
9:08
there's only him there and there's only
9:09
him with with the camera and if you
9:13
never shot you know tried to shoot
9:14
yourself out in the trail then you'll
9:15
know it's such a faff yeah you run ahead
9:18
you put the camera there you run back
9:20
you hop on the bike you ride past it you
9:22
get the camera and then y'all have to
9:24
chop my head off let's go back do it
9:26
again
9:26
it's just it is mind-blowing ly annoying
9:29
and I hate doing it and let's have a
9:33
look at some of the lengths that Ben
9:34
went to to get the shots
9:38
[Music]
9:45
so that one you see he's he's obviously
9:49
gonna put the camera somewhere a really
9:52
long way away or through some deep snow
9:55
and you saw me earlier you have to like
9:58
put the camera in them you have to go a
10:00
really long way around
10:01
yeah what so I mean I've been filming
10:03
from the way my very first set off that
10:07
aside to take camera with a camera with
10:09
me and teach myself how to take photos
10:12
make films I thought it'd be really
10:13
something new something interesting I
10:15
had no background in I was a jock
10:16
referred beforehand set okay
10:18
no like background in the film is you
10:20
could read a map yeah I think it's you
10:22
lost but how do you know this 15 months
10:25
previously just kind of getting used to
10:27
filming and kind of get induced to that
10:29
process of kind of stopping and setting
10:31
up shop and stuff but that was all done
10:33
where you could just walk straight in
10:35
front of the camera and go pick the bike
10:36
up and go off but then in snow is
10:38
something completely different because
10:39
it doesn't look very good for a shot if
10:41
you just got a lot of footsteps going to
10:43
and from for the camera in the snow so I
10:45
had to always take these little security
10:47
routes around yeah make sure I wasn't
10:49
like treading in the shop yeah I didn't
10:54
know the dimension of difficulty I
10:55
suppose yeah and the one we were talking
10:58
before you were saying that you didn't
11:01
you needed to get the footage because
11:04
you wanted to make a film but at the
11:06
same time you didn't want someone to
11:08
find you dead and go well this is why he
11:10
died yeah we Instagram it's a ridiculous
11:13
thing isn't it to to to leave out
11:18
filming in in in what is a fairly but
11:21
what was a fairly dangerous difficult
11:24
situation and there's no two ways about
11:26
it he's a bit daft but I knew I was
11:29
filming that part of the ride quite
11:30
intensively to turn into a short film I
11:32
knew I wanted to go into filmmaking
11:34
later on when I eventually got back home
11:37
that half my brain was saying I get off
11:41
this river this is dangerous just you
11:42
know put all your efforts time mind into
11:45
pushing the bike and getting to safety
11:47
and the other half is saying no this is
11:48
going to be an integral part of the
11:50
story if you want to be a filmmaker
11:51
you've got to film this bit you've got
11:54
to film film when you shouldn't be
11:55
because they're the most interesting
11:56
part so in the frozen road almost every
12:01
shot that I took on that River is in it
12:02
which means I didn't really shoot that
12:05
much right but I mean when I went to
12:10
editing I wish I shot more but at the
12:12
time you just don't know how things are
12:14
going to go the time would quite like to
12:15
survive yeah the time I think I wasting
12:17
far too much time look at the bike that
12:23
you wrote you got this
12:25
so you stopped in Whistler once you've
12:29
got you stopped yes I had a few months
12:32
in Whistler working trying to save a bit
12:35
of money
12:35
mm-hmm and managed to kind of organize
12:37
part part of this this trip I needed to
12:40
have a big overhaul of kit really yeah
12:42
what arrived with is what set off within
12:44
your Schwein South America right and
12:47
this seemed like a great time to get a
12:49
new bike and I couldn't afford a new
12:52
bike but wrote to a bunch of different
12:53
companies asking if it you know I'm
12:56
gonna go up to the Arctic make this film
12:58
gonna continue around the world would
13:00
you like to give me a bike and everyone
13:02
said no except for this wonderful
13:03
company fatback who make that bikes up
13:06
in Alaska right it'll be the right tool
13:08
Ferb absolutely for the jumping it would
13:11
be absolutely perfect so they really
13:13
very kindly gave me give me a bike to
13:16
ride and it's the bike that I then
13:18
continued across Asia Africa and Europe
13:20
on and I've got to say it kind of
13:23
perform without a whimper and it's not
13:25
it's pretty rare to have a carbon fiber
13:27
fat bike to go long-distance cycling but
13:32
yeah I'm just really really impressed
13:34
with it really impressive so when you
13:36
have this early set up in the first part
13:39
of the journey what what kind of weight
13:40
was all of that back you know I think
13:42
probably like between 55 60 kilos okay
13:45
and then this one this one managed to
13:48
cut it down a lot down to maybe 40 45 I
13:50
was kind of camera equipment electronics
13:52
yeah quite heavy 10 a laptop so that was
13:55
all the heavy stuff in terms of like the
13:58
stuff I was using so clothes and that's
14:00
not that's all I'm gonna add one set
14:01
clothes so I was trying to save weight
14:03
in certain areas yeah but I mean with
14:07
that bike it's it's carbon and that's
14:09
quite fair if something goes wrong but
14:12
it's written for almost two years I'm
14:15
going for the traditional kind of steel
14:17
we can yeah yeah but you know when
14:20
you're pushing over a mountain for two
14:22
days you're really really rate having a
14:24
lighter weight bike yeah when um just
14:27
look it over your shoulder or something
14:28
but it wasn't obviously
14:32
maintenance-free no no nothing ever is
14:35
maintenance no so what happened to your
14:37
cranks these are these are not for
14:39
cranks they're not the cranks that I
14:41
initially had no those cranks when I was
14:45
in when I was in in Zambia unfortunately
14:48
managed to snap a crank so getting a
14:52
replacement crank was impossible start
14:54
had to chuck I just think about how to
14:56
have to sort out that scenario so I
15:00
drilled a hole a little bit higher up
15:02
the crank uh-huh the pedal obviously
15:04
wouldn't fit in because the pedal had
15:05
shared as well and so I put a bolt into
15:08
the into the crank and rode from there
15:11
up to Kenya about 2,000 miles with a
15:13
with a broken one with the bolts as a
15:16
pedal rights for quite a long long way
15:18
but having said that it's it's what the
15:20
locals do well they have pedals made out
15:22
of bolts the obviously not psyching such
15:25
large distances but you know when in
15:28
doubt do do what the locals are doing it
15:30
usually works so did you kind of prepare
15:37
well do you think for this trip or did
15:39
you just kind of go off on a jolly in a
15:41
bit of a what will be on V or did you
15:43
like have a no I mean I know how to fix
15:45
this I need these bits of kit no no I
15:48
I hate planning and I'm really bad at
15:50
planning and I'm not sure if I I'm bad
15:52
at planning for the hate planning off or
15:54
which way around is but I mean it's a
15:56
bike ride and it's a long time and on a
15:58
bike you get from towns and villages
16:02
often enough that if something really
16:05
goes wrong you've got a mode of
16:08
transport you think you can make it
16:09
bikes are simple enough that you can
16:10
always make them go and you can get to
16:12
where you need to be nice actually so so
16:14
I didn't plan any any of it route wise
16:15
equipment wise just kind of
16:18
wing debit and did you have a spot
16:21
tracker or anything like that so that so
16:23
I did get a spot tracker halfway through
16:28
really did something happen that
16:31
precipitated the matter Dixon we did ya
16:33
have to watch the frozen road to find
16:35
out oh sorry it was the frozen right
16:37
there yeah so I mean people can get
16:44
before you set off on a trip like this
16:46
you really caught up in the mind you shy
16:48
of it yeah the planning but the reality
16:50
is that I assume as you start riding
16:51
everything changes anyway and you get so
16:53
used to places and your knowledge of a
16:56
place becomes far more intimate when
16:57
you're there mm-hm but you can then just
16:59
ask you about where to go what you reach
17:01
to follow you don't need to plan too
17:02
much because you can always just make it
17:04
okay and and what kind of budget did you
17:09
have when you when you set out stop with
17:12
about nine thousand pounds okay
17:16
but that lasted fit for three years
17:18
that's all my savings from student loans
17:21
and all the jobs I've been having since
17:23
I was fourteen I shouldn't say that not
17:26
to work at sixteen no I think I didn't
17:27
do anything
17:30
yeah so that was it and so I mean that
17:33
that was enough to cover the cost of
17:35
each other I tried to keep my costs as
17:37
low as possible
17:38
yeah I mean if you cycling transports
17:41
free if you're camping every night as I
17:43
was accommodation some reason the only
17:45
cost his food and visas yeah and then
17:47
flying between content so I David budget
17:51
was about three pounds a day okay so
17:54
there you have it kids yeah go around
17:56
the world on three pounds a day
17:57
no eating a lot of rice and a lot of
18:00
porridge two or three times more than at
18:03
normally you did get some lengths to
18:05
kind of keep your cost down that you've
18:07
watched the early films there's one way
18:09
you get to a border and you're hoping to
18:11
get on the boat and it's gonna be 45 US
18:14
dollars to get on the boat so you when
18:17
you went around what looks utterly
18:19
horrible like carrying this bike over
18:22
these of streams and logs and trees like
18:25
a totally unrideable yeah barely
18:28
walkable single track would have been
18:29
right
18:30
with a properly mounted like that but a
18:33
heavy like touring bike no chance sir
18:36
but you think it was worth it
18:39
you know a few weeks of living so for a
18:42
day and a half of punishments that's
18:44
definitely working it's like I paid
18:46
myself forty five dollars for that day
18:48
and a half right that's quickly no it
18:51
looks horrible I'm not sure I'm cut out
18:53
for fortune lol so I did set the
18:55
precedent for the rest of the ride just
18:57
kind of getting used to pushing the bike
18:58
and go into some pretty silly places
19:00
okay so at one point you say that you
19:08
kind of need to change it up because the
19:11
adventure is becoming normal like this
19:13
is just you're in these amazing places
19:15
and you're just like I'm I'm on the road
19:18
again this is just another amazing place
19:21
do you think that going around the world
19:25
and doing it there after day does that
19:27
take the edge off the adventure or do
19:28
you have to go around the world could
19:30
you know could you do it in little
19:31
segments in your summer holidays oh come
19:34
to the conclusion that actually unless
19:36
the aim is to go away for a long period
19:39
of time and that to kind of be an
19:41
important mm-hmm reason which it was for
19:43
me three to six months is the perfect
19:48
amount of time all right
19:49
that's still a long long time and it's
19:51
it's long enough to be away from home
19:54
and conventional life back home and like
19:56
the sort of routine of that that you
19:58
feel you feel like a distance from it
20:01
mm-hmm it's not too far away to ever
20:04
take it for granted I was often became
20:07
the case hours just taking where I was
20:08
for granted I meant that the looks
20:09
reason of being able to be there pretty
20:13
privileged position to be able to you
20:15
know be from the west where we can
20:16
choose I have a certain degree of
20:18
autonomy over what we do
20:20
so yeah between three and six months you
20:23
can really kind of go off the beaten
20:23
track kind of still feel like you often
20:26
and eventually not pressed for time it's
20:28
not like I've only got two weeks they've
20:29
got to get yeah like this place to fly
20:31
back home again
20:33
see I think it can give so much in that
20:34
in that period yeah and probably go a
20:36
little bit harder as well okay yeah he'd
20:39
never seem to you get obviously
20:43
weather-beaten but in the footage that
20:45
I've seen you don't get that kind of
20:47
gone Sterry I'm really ill I've been ill
20:51
for weeks or I feeling well actually
20:53
that didn't get ever that ill I can I
20:57
trained my I was just ringing like river
21:00
water tap water all the time so I wasn't
21:01
really filtering stuff so I've got a
21:02
bill to begin with and then stomach just
21:04
kind of got used to things I never got
21:06
any like you know serious illness over
21:08
them in Sudan in the Sahara that's a
21:11
really quite dangerously ill then let's
21:15
not watch any people that's all all to
21:20
come in with you I think we've got
21:21
another little clip from frozen Road of
21:23
you being
21:25
[Music]
21:32
just gotta just just walk
21:35
eventually I'll get there yeah
21:40
knee-deep seeking snow and the other
21:43
kind of frozen frozen beard thing going
21:46
on I've not really want to be able to
21:48
grow much of a beard that's like the
21:49
joke in the family but I managed to get
21:52
a bit of a nice beard no actually
21:54
on the last few days in fact on that
21:56
River and then the last few days of that
21:58
part of the ride got quite a lot of
21:59
frostbite okay cheeks and my how much in
22:02
and fingertips and toes but all healed
22:04
up healed up so still don't really feel
22:07
too much at the end of my fingers but
22:12
you didn't really plan your route it
22:15
didn't really plan your kit you didn't
22:18
have a ton of money to spend you didn't
22:20
have a spot tracker for a good chunk of
22:22
the route doesn't really have any past
22:25
experience and he didn't get that ill
22:28
yeah you used all nine lives now I think
22:34
so yeah I've gotta be really careful
22:36
crossing roads yeah I think it's it's
22:40
it's it's just so straightforward to do
22:44
the scariest thing is setting off and
22:47
then as soon as you're on the road as
22:48
soon as you started like riding things
22:50
just fall into place and you make the
22:52
decisions whilst you there you don't
22:53
need to make that beforehand and you
22:55
just find ways around certain
22:57
circumstances mmm it's really it's just
22:59
having that sort of mindset they're just
23:01
that a brief moment of courage to book a
23:04
flight to somewhere right so you're
23:06
gonna set off and then you tied into it
23:07
see brief moments are fully usually
23:10
result in you know eBay purchases on a
23:12
Friday night and that kind really not
23:14
around the world era saying that all all
23:15
the best expeditions are starting
23:17
they're starting the bar so just have a
23:20
person drinks make a few outrageous
23:22
claims are you gonna go and do something
23:24
and then you got to follow it through
23:26
the next morning so and Ben Tzion
23:30
Sudeikis is his film is now the frozen
23:34
Road is now available on vimeo to watch
23:36
for free isn't it in its touring as part
23:40
of the
23:41
banff mountain festival is that
23:44
yes yeah it was in in the festival over
23:47
in Canada late last year and picked up
23:50
an award there which is really exciting
23:52
because it's my first film real like
23:54
film and it's kind of been getting
23:57
fantastic reception which is
24:00
so fatback were foolish enough to agree
24:04
to sponsor you to get ya through through
24:08
that Arctic section and then onwards
24:10
after that well they didn't really know
24:12
it's going to continue with the bike
24:13
right who Asia and Africa and Europe for
24:16
the rest of the ride they thought I was
24:17
gonna go back to the city but after
24:19
using it how's that this is just perfect
24:21
very a silly thing to do to go a fat
24:24
bike across continents but but it worked
24:27
out well and it's a great conversation
24:28
starter when you go through small little
24:30
villages and beyond see what they assume
24:32
is a motorbike and then so you you've
24:39
self-funded all this apart from the the
24:41
sponsorship from a little bit of help
24:44
from bass and saddles and a couple
24:45
people beginning with or just equipment
24:47
sponsorship so yeah being really helpful
24:49
to get equipment and and not everybody
24:53
was willing to sponsor you know they
24:54
know no soap or before setting off on
24:57
this part that the frozen road a bit and
25:00
you have been making a film out of it
25:02
and I didn't know how successful the
25:04
film was going to be but I thought this
25:05
is a good chance to write to a lot of
25:07
different companies mm-hmm and asked if
25:09
they could throw me said okay I wasn't
25:11
asking for money or anything just can I
25:13
get some kids yeah a big overhaul almost
25:16
all companies said no they just thought
25:19
it was a foolish idea they they didn't
25:22
want to be associated with something
25:23
that could fail or like bad worse result
25:27
so managed to I was working in a shop
25:30
and managed to get a lot of a lot of
25:33
gear from the shop I'm just across price
25:35
and then ya know because we think you're
25:40
going to die yeah it'd be bad for them
25:44
isn't it
25:49
so um so you've put this film together
25:52
yourself
25:53
yeah you've obviously got the rest of
25:55
the footage from the rest of the world
25:57
trip yes
25:57
three years of footage sat on a bunch of
25:59
hard drives that's a long film waiting
26:02
to be waiting to be to be edited into a
26:05
90-minute film which I'm hoping to do
26:07
later this year but and and then so yeah
26:12
I've got the frozen Road out online for
26:14
free I thought it's really important to
26:15
share the stories for free but there is
26:18
on my website Ben page films calm
26:20
there's a little paper link that if you
26:22
want to donate to the film any any
26:24
amount then if you follow that link that
26:26
would be really appreciated and as a as
26:28
a thank you you get a free download at
26:30
the film too or if you're a sponsor that
26:34
might wish to sponsor there if you'd
26:36
like to sponsor this upcoming film then
26:38
that would be just you're not going to
26:41
die because he's not me yeah and I've
26:44
got lots more adventures planned for the
26:46
coming years as well so so please do get
26:48
in touch if anyone's anyone's out of
26:50
this so so it's not out your system then
26:52
that's it's not like right I've done
26:54
that firmly in my system now
26:55
unfortunately nice I've got the book
26:58
right so you'll be off again yeah yeah
27:00
so you've been to all of these places
27:02
anywhere in the world but you think I've
27:05
not been there and I've got to go there
27:07
yes of planning a big big expedition
27:10
across Russia so next year okay without
27:13
a bike it's gonna be Deming walking in
27:15
packrafting thank you a multi-month
27:17
expedition hopefully a world first we no
27:21
interest of that or taking a bike don't
27:22
really talk too much about the head hit
27:24
at the moment yeah cool well we're gonna
27:29
head back over to the office and and
27:31
then we have a little look at some of
27:32
the pictures rest of Ben's trip because
27:34
unlike lots of people that go around the
27:37
world he's actually sought out the
27:40
trails rather than just tried to get
27:42
from A to B we've kind of looked for
27:44
good trails along the way so I'm gonna
27:46
go and have a look at some of that's
27:48
hope you've enjoyed this had a bit of
27:50
insight into what it doesn't take to get
27:52
around the world really do it and have a
27:57
look at frozen Road on Vimeo or there's
27:59
link on the single track Worldcom right
28:01
now thanks for joining us thank you
28:05
you
28:07
[Applause]
