hello single track readers
0:04
um last night I was at Kendall Mountain
0:06
Festival bike night we're talking about
0:08
the um Community interest company called
0:11
ride resilience which I've set up a
0:13
little while ago just briefly talking
0:14
about that and and Hannah popped onto
0:16
stage and uh gave me one of these let it
0:19
focus on there which is a single track
0:22
readers Award for best writer 2022 and
0:26
it's completely come out of the blue
0:29
um I've obviously written this excess
0:30
baggage piece for them a little while
0:32
ago and it was really just me pushing
0:33
myself to do something that I'd not done
0:36
for a while uh something that kind of
0:37
pushed me out of my comfort zone and I
0:40
reached out to the guys at single track
0:41
mark and said hey look I'm gonna do this
0:44
a little Adventure is that something
0:46
that you perhaps want me to document and
0:47
write about take some photos about and
0:48
they said yeah that sounds really
0:49
interesting now to then off the back of
0:54
um as one of three writers of the year
0:56
was completely unexpected uh it was
1:00
hugely humbling it really wasn't what I
1:02
set out to achieve at all I just kind of
1:04
wanted to share my story and share the
1:06
adventure and then to go and win it even
1:09
though I might have made you know a
1:10
couple of hundred fake accounts and
1:12
voted for myself repeatedly
1:14
um is is you know next level so I don't
1:18
really know whether this is the sort of
1:20
thing that you then go and put on your
1:21
CV I suppose CVS are a bit irrelevant to
1:23
me these days anyway but um but yeah
1:26
it's a massive massive Accolade which
1:29
I'm incredibly proud of and it's only
1:31
thanks to you guys voting for me and
1:33
taking the time to read my story so it's
1:35
definitely spurred me on to keep writing
1:37
keep documenting these adventures and
1:39
keep going on adventures full stop so
1:40
thanks again and uh yeah I hope you all
1:43
enjoy the remaining your weekend cheers
