Gift for the good lady – she enjoys a glass of Bombay Sapphire to wind down at the weekend, and thought she might appreciate something a little different for Christmas. Any suggestions?

    Professor Cornelius Ampleforths Bathtub Gin.

any other gin i’ve tried is by comparison, quite frankly, shit.

    Professor Cornelius Ampleforths Bathtub Gin.

I really wanted to hate this as it looks like hipster bollocks however it is actually very lovely.

So far Brockmans is the best gin i’ve ever sampled. Would like a try of the ‘Professor Cornelius Ampleforths Bathtub Gin’ though!

I bought this for my wife in October, its very nice.

I did a fair bit of searching and reading reviews of a lot of boutique gins, most seemed to be an acquired taste, The Botanist got great reviews.

I have gins on tasting all the time, these are the ones which have had good feedback recently:
    Mason’s lavender
    Opihr spice
    Chilgrove
    Sipsmith
    Thomas dakin

But the bathtub and botanist mentioned above are excellent also

The best gin out there (for actually drinking): http://www.bramleyandgage.co.uk/PBSCProduct.asp?ItmID=11869984

There’s a matching tonic, too, so don’t ruin good gin with rubbish tonic.

I’ve a bathtub gin on the go at the moment

It’s very nice, can’t say it’s changed my life or owt though

Williams Chase prior to that – also good

(If you can find some) Jenever might be a nice change for a gin drinker. Its the dutch predecessor of Gin – its a sort of younger, lighter, freshers tasting tipple. There are two kinds – ‘old’ and ‘young’ – but that means old fashioned and new style and refers two distilling techniques rather than ageing. Quite nice to drink neat rather than with mixers

Tends to be sold in quite unusual old fashioned ceramic ‘bottles’ which might be quite a nice gift-y aspect as well

It’s gonna be whatever name/label you think the Mrs will like the look of. Nothing else matters.

    But for me it’s this…

Plus 1 for forest gin. It’s made by a couple and their daughter, in langley. I bought a bottle for my wife for our anniversary. It’s really good. It’s not cheap at 60 quid a bottle though.

My second favourite would be Martin millers.
