Patrol E-Six bike check

hey everyone this is the third live

again I'm gonna wait for a few more of

you to come before I start talking I'm

gonna put the seat post down a bit I got

check with this this is the patrol see 6

if you've been over to single track

world already today you'll have seen

that I've done a bike check of this and

a YouTube video but I thought you know

what people are gonna ask a lot of

questions because it is an e-bike

they're gonna ask a lot of questions

because of the different components the

Fox 38 the Berg tech components so why

not come live here on YouTube and answer

a few questions so while I go over this

bike on all the components on it if

you've got anything to ask please let me

know in the comments and I'll do my best

to answer questions for you alright

instead of looking at me let's have a

look at this bike alright so what we've

got here is the patrol c6 let me move

back a little bit so you can see all the

patrol 6e MTB let's go over here have a

look at a few bits this is the patrol

head badge this is the large down tube

with the integrated battery we've got a

Shimano motor here

Fock suspension patrol logos right yo

let's talk about the buy them so patrol

or an Indonesian brand and they are they

invited me over to Bali last year to

test this bike and a few other bikes and

they've sent this over for me to test

here in the UK and I've had it since

before winter so this bike has been

smashed through the peat districts in

the mud the ice the rain the grit the

snow and it's lasted really well and

considering it's a bike that was

designed for the tropical climates it's

doing really well in the UK

missions now out-of-the-box this Fox 30

sorry out-of-the-box this patrol ecigs

came with a Fox 36 it came with patrol

components and SDG components okay with

max's tires majora breaks and shimano

SLX drivetrain with Shimano hubs and

some Ringley rims but as i've had it for

over the past few months more components

have come in and I've changed a few

parts on it here and there and I think

the first one you want to know about is

that that's the Fox 38 so let me just

turn this around sorry I'm not doing a

very good at this there we go

so the Fox 38 this Fox 38 has a hundred

and seventy Miller travel it's the

special pistachio colored one with the

cobalt X axle we've got the new these

variable valve control damping on the

rebound and also on the compression

there has a new arch design and Kashima

coating so this is a 170 ml fork now

this bike is designed around 160 mm so

it changes the angles a little bit so as

stock it has a 65 degree head angle with

this larger fork on it has a 64 degree

head angle reach on this large bike is

463 millimeters or 462 millimeters it

might be one millimeter out there let's

turn this around I look at a few other

bits and bobs so it's an alloy frame

bike and here we've got an internal

battery so patrol what they've done is

they've used a Shimano motor that's an e

7000 motor but they've gone for a custom

battery in here and there is a 630 what

our battery now what's impressive about

that is because Shimano currently only

do a 504 a 504 watt hour battery so for

patrol to put this massive 630 in there

is actually a huge benefit for anyone

who wants to ride further and cry more

and just explore more so this huge

battery in here is a actually a real

nice benefit to have

six-thirty what hour is usually the

battery that Bosch offers but not

usually on a Shimano bike so that's a

pretty cool feature to turn the patrol

ecigs on enough we've got a power button

here and if you wonder what these are

these are to hold the battery in place

it is a built in battery it's not really

meant to be removed by the user the

motor is a Shimano steps EA thousand

motor

Carolee see it there and that's a 70

Newton meter motor it's very compact and

here is the battery charge port if you

wonder what this is this is a mock off

BAM canister holder and that's like an

emergency get your home tire fixing kit

Fox DPX - rear shock on here so we've

got 150 ml travel on the rear internal

cable and hose routing very very cool

there we go alright let's talk about a

few bits of this bike now obviously it's

an e bike and people are gonna ask

what's the range of an e-bike I can't

answer that question because I don't

know how you ride I don't know where you

ride and I don't know what modes you use

the bike in but I can tell you what I

get out of this bike so out of the box

this bike is set in dynamic mode and I

believe that is Boost is on its highest

setting trail Eco or in its lowest

setting and set like that with this 630

watt hour battery I can get between 40

to 45 kilometers and that's riding in

the Peak District big climb this big

downs lots of sloppy sliding stuff so

yeah but it gives me a pretty good range

but because I'm on an e by it because

I'm gonna smash out the climb as fast as

possible I downloaded the ytube app and

i've actually tweaked the settings on

this bike and now I'm getting around 30

to 35 K because I've got it on boost

boost boost boost get on full power so I

can smash out everything and everywhere

alright let's have a look at a few of

the parts of this bike so the Fox 38

obviously is new I've got the burgh tech

ride wide 800 mil bars on here these

were a 35 mil diameter clamp got a 35

mil

stem on here that's a burg tech mark 2

and euro stem in here I've got the

granite designs tool the screen on this

is a Shimano a 7000 screen so what's

great about Shimano is the fact that you

can add different components so although

hazard jeez oh my goodness

although it has an e 8000 motor we've

got an ether z 7000 screen and that's

fine I don't need a color screen it

gives me all the information I need and

I've changed the e 8000 controller to an

e 7000 controller which is much comfier

and it means that I can use this

underbar drop a post remote their grips

are Berg tech bartender pro grips

they're super grippy their thirty-one

point five millimeter in diameter breaks

a shimano SLX four piston brakes these

are the same as an xt break basically

except that these are a painted finish

and you don't have the server wave

control here and I think they're made in

Malaysia rather than Japan so at XT

power for SLX price and these are the

four piston brakes we've got our four

Pistons caliper here we've got finned

pads here because obviously this is a

big heavy bike and it's going to go fast

it's good to have those fin pads and

these ice tech freezer 203 millimeter

rotors and that's front and rear these

rotors are attached to a set of xt hubs

and these acti Shimano XT wheels and you

can see a little bit battle-scarred from

the peep toe straight rocks tires RV

tire I have got here we go

snap WCE that's 29 by 2.5 top 40 on the

front super squishy super grippy tire on

the front and on the rear I've got a V

tire snapped rail this is two point

three five and as you can see because

it's a heavy bike because it's got a

motor on it you can see it's starting to

wear but that's because it's such a soft

compound it's hardly surprising that it

was

groupset on this is an SLX 12 speed

drivetrain there we go and SLX remote

there i've got no questions at all about

this bike okay

now some of you might wonder why would

someone want an e bike rather than an

acoustic bike well I suppose it all

depends on who you are and the type of

riding you're doing for me personally I

love an e-bike in the winter because I

have to drive pretty far to get to the

office everyday so my commute to and

from the office is like three hours it

takes a long time so what I do get home

if I've only got an hour of sunshine and

it's cold and it's wet and if the e bike

is great I can get out I can smash a

load of down hills have some fun and it

can be home and spend some time with the

kids in the summer they're great for

exploring new trails and if you're going

to do any trail maintenance an e bike is

great for carrying around shovels and

tools and stuff which is good too down

hills they're great for smashing out

down on whole rooms because this is

we've got so much suspension and the

geometry is very similar to a downhill

bike you can climb up and you can smash

down the downhill is just like on a

downhill bike but for me personally I

like to have like I mean my dream garage

would be two bikes one II bike on one

lightwei bike so I'm really loving this

as my ebike and a lightweight bite like

the whitey is oh is a great for the

Smashing out using your legs as power
