Whistler Snow Season Ends With 12hrs Notice Due To Covid Surge

by 2

With just 12 hours notice Whistler resort was instructed to close its lifts and clear the mountain last week, bringing the season to a close.

Although the instruction from the Provincial Health Officer was to close for a period of three weeks the resort has decided that the season is to come to an official close.

The resort has been open through the season with many Covid safety measures in place but the amount of regional travel to the resort over the last month has been blamed for a surge in the Brazilian variant of Covid 19. Many other BC resorts remain open to locals.

The bike park is due to open on the 29th June 2021 but in the meantime the valley trails are currently mostly clear of snow – if you are a local of course.

Our man on the ground in Whistler, Chris Eyres is naturally down after the closure as he reckons the Easter period is the favourite time of year for many of the Whistler residents. But he’s not left without options and in his latest video he puts the board away and gets the bike out for an early exploration of some of the trail sin the valley around the resort.

Mark was the trail he was riding in Pemberton? Village like a ghost town just like I remember when the Crankworx Circus left town when I was there a few years ago.

The valley trails are not clear of snow! Whistler trails are still pretty snowed in by all accounts. The riding in this video was Cream Puff in Pemberton.
