    Ladder Chassis versus monocoque chassis – use:
    Ix = (a h3 / 12) + (b / 12) (H3 – h3)
    and
    Iy = (a3 h / 12) + (b3 / 12) (H – h)
    etc. to explain why the latter is better.

    Mind you to go off road I’d just use a mountain bike.

  • Oban isn’t on the route from Cruachan to Fort William.

    I’d avoid Fort William all together, so many tourists that it is ruined now.

    Was last up Ben Nevis a week ago tonight, alone. Lovely, but if I twisted my ankle what would you have made of me?

    These folks where tourists and very innocent. What is needed here is to rename the “tourist path” the “roughty toughty mountainers hard as nails path”.

    These folks are culpable in spite of their innocence because of the weather at…[Read more]

    Hello, civil engineer here, born in Northern Ireland but happily escaped (by ferry).

    Bridge is probably unfeasible because of water depth – imagine how you’d engineer each pier.

    This bridge is a political dead cat. Brexit has disgruntled the Unionists given their treatment by the scumbag Torys. A referendum on a United Ireland creeps closer due…[Read more]

    Kate Forbes is a creationist, which to me should bar her from office. We desperately need politicians that listen to scientists, and she fails that test in my opinion.

    They’re desperate to find a role for her as she was my MEP.

    I am generally an SNP voter for what it is worth – but being a creationist makes you an extremist in my book.

  • Centreparcs, its the modern Butlins, what do you expect?

  • I’ve just got a brand new Berlingo to replace a 2017 model. Sorry, don’t know the exact engine and trim level.

    It’s mainly negative for me. The steering is terrible – I think this model has switched over to electronic power steering? The engine takes ages to heat up – bad at this time of the year – and seems to be perpetually off boost. I’m…[Read more]

    Once upon a time I worked for a bank. They put folk on gardening leave immediately a resignation was handed in. I resigned with way more notice than I needed too! Lots of biking done………

    “Never forget that half the people you meet are less than average intelligence”

    “I work with someone who was amazed when I pointed out to them that half the population are below average when it comes to intelligence.”

    Gotta love folk demonstrating a misunderstanding regarding statistics at the same time entering into a intelligent dick waving thread!

    Aye opened a bottle of red and stuck on Moving Pictures. A real talent.

  • I think the extremists are those who don’t follow science and educated thought with greed and avarice removed. We can’t continue with the current percentage of population so engaged with consumer culture.

    More extreme than this, I believe many of the issues facing mankind are most feasibly managed by a massive reduction in human…[Read more]

    I just regard all religion as cults. All equally unworthy. After arriving at that viewpoint debating the origin of the cult seems pointless. But you lot carry on, that’s what the internet is for.

    Oddly I can’t quite disbelieve in a higher being…..but I think that is different to religion which is utter bunk and causes a lot of problems in…[Read more]

  • There is quite a bit of flexibility built into land management plans for fell years. There is no sure fire way to know when felling is planned unless you seek permission. Coupes that are up for harvesting can be pulled/substituted at the last moment.

    Volvo C30, V40 and V70 here…all 5 minutes to change bulbs. Mind you the V70 has self leveling and steering HIDs that rarely need changed.

    LED aftermarkets are an MOT fail now are they not, and rightly so.

    The laws on headlamps are utterly out of date.

    Sorry southern neighbours, your politics are too repulsive for me. Think I’ll join the SNP and get involved to help avoid Scotland being dragged down.

    Ta outofbreath, but my point is why isn’t that on the BBC?! Doesn’t need to be at the top, but should be there. It is very relevant…..Boris runs away!

  • Waderider replied to the topic 2019 General Election in the forum Chat Forum 2 months ago

    Why can’t I easily find this mornings fridge story about Boris on the BBC website? Might be my own ineptitude?

    Whatever, if its that hard to find the website editor is making it so. I call the BBC biased. I have never worn a tin foil hat!
