Corbyn should have called a VONC and tried to form a minority government when he had the numbers.

And then what? A softer Brexit deal would have collapsed that government within weeks, a second referendum would have been comprehensively lost – see last night, and the subsequent general election would put us at this point, just another six…[Read more]

Anyway who’s voting what in the summer 2020 General Election?

    No chance. Five years.

    <Desperately looks for positives>

The only smidgen of hope is that Boris Johnson has effectively been liberated from the ERG headbangers, and has an opportunity to be slightly more moderate in both his approach to Brexit and domestic policy. Trouble is he’s s…[Read more]

Very wise decision, from my direct experience! 🙂

Well, we now know how futile a second Brexit referendum would have been. Would’ve lost that one by a bucketload too.

Looking at the Brexit Party vote, there is capacity for Labour to bounce back more strongly than usual once that issue has been settled. Perhaps once the recession is biting properly and folks who voted for this are wondering what…[Read more]

Wow. I think I’ll go to bed now. Not even that close.

Putting up a candidate called ‘Dungworth’ can’t have helped though.

    …while living in a sewer eating sh!te

Strictly speaking, while plugged into a machine being fed the liquefied remains of your fellow humans.

That’s actually from page 27 of the Tory Manifesto.

At my local polling station they have red pills and blue pills.

Red – you end up living in fear in a giant sewer, eating vile reconstituted slop.
Blue – the dream of a prosperous and successful life continues!

Was there an orange pill, you take it and it has no effect whatsoever?

If you spend most of your rides in zone 4 or 5 then by definition you will be blowing out of your arse and feeling like it’s hard work. Maybe your expectations of what is an appropriate speed for ‘normal’ effort are just too high?

I’m 49 and gradually toning down my expectations of what kind of speeds/times are realistic.

    If you are using…[Read more]

  • The only times when it’s a problem are a few rides where I want to shed a couple of layers after starting out in mixed conditions. I can get an ’emergency’ waterproof and a softshell gilet into mine OK though.

A more pressing issue is the lack of space for all that, plus a ginsters pasty and a can of coke.

If you would like to feel slightly optimistic about getting Boris out, have a read of this.

    God, I hope he’s right.

Off out to do my civic duty now. If I can help halve the majority of the Tory incumbent then it will at least give him a shot across the bows.

*Somebody* taped a Vote Labour poster to his gatepost last night…

We did this to my aunt once – fervent Tory campaigner, so we popped over to her posh house one night and swapped her dozen verge signs for the Labour equivalent, throwing in a few Socialist Worker for good measure.

    Tory minority I reckon

I’m interested in the mechanics of how a Tory minority government would be assembled – they literally have no friends left at Westminster, they’ve even pissed off the DUP. Who would be propping it up?

there’s a chance we can kick out the Jake Berry slime ball but only through a Labour win.

If anything other than a Tory maj is good, you know what you need to do…hold your nose.
