  • I do most of my road riding on a converted aluminum Kona. It’s 26er running 1.5 slicks, singlespeeded to 42/16, has PaceRC31s and OnOne Marybars.

    I love riding it.

My brother lent me his road bike, I don’t like riding it. Not because of drops, skinny tyres and gears, I just find it a bit boring.

Totally off the trail but anyone done Nazca Lines? Tourist trap?

ye went there in 2005. Got smashed in a bar with a bunch of students we met there (I was 35 at the time!) then had to get in the tiny little plane the following morning. Although I was hungover and remember feeling quite sick it was definitely good to see.

btw OP. If you’re staying…[Read more]

I’ve been to Peru loads of times and never had any trouble there. If you’re heading to Trujilo you’d be better off going to Huanchaco and finding a place to stay on the coast there, Trujilo is great for a look around but I wouldn’t want to stay there. And rather than go all the way from Trujilo to Lima could you not fit in a stop off at Huaraz on…[Read more]

  • Jeans and shoes? Never.

Poppycock. A suitably expensive brown brouge paired with proper selvedge denim is always a good look.

only if you want to go round looking like a complete berk from a reality tv show lol!!

The optician seemed somewhat surprised that I’m over 40 and can still read things.

    I got to 50 😉

I had my eyes tested last month and bought my first pair of specs a couple of weeks ago. I have one eye which is good for close up reading and one eye which is good for long distance, probably why I got away with it for so long. Vision Express d…[Read more]

I’m local and ventured up on to the Wayfarers back in mid December, it was very muddy then and as above it’s pretty much non stop rain since – it will be a quagmire with the recent downpours we’ve just had.

Greenham Common is probably okay for a spin round, it does tend to drain slightly better than the others. Newtown common and Snelsmore common…[Read more]

if I go for a road ride I prefer riding a rigid mtb singlespeed with 26er 1.5 tyres rather than a road bike with gears.

a mate and myself went up Cadir Idris during beast from the east a couple of years ago. It’s not Ben Nevis I know but it was still pretty brutal. It was -6 in the car park and probably about -22 on the top. We knew what we were getting into and made sure we were well prepared it, and my mate has excellent knowledge of the mountain having been…[Read more]

I would’ve just stopped the direct debit after 10days and got another ISP. Just stop paying them, then they’ll contact you and you can explain exactly why you have.

Plusnet have been fine for me. Saying that their first router conked out after 1 day but I had another arrive in the post 2days later.

  • I’ve bought myself an Endura Pro SL which has been great so far. Really comfy, warm enough, waterproof enough and seems to breath well. Haven’t worn it in the pouring rain for hours yet but it’s certainly held me up well during some fairly tough wet & windy conditions these last couple of months.…[Read more]

did my ribs in just before christmas after clipping my handlebars on some railings. Am just starting to ride again, do a bit of yoga and running is getting better. Still hurts a bit in the mornings and I seem to have developed tight glute-medius /lower back /hip pain from when I couldn’t move around very well. Spending any spare few minutes I have…[Read more]

Last time I bought a pair of boot cut jeans I ended up buying womens size10 regular. Dorothy Perkins £20. They fit perfectly the only problem is the pockets are really shallow. Bit pished off I wasn’t a size 8 tbh! :’-)
