If they choose RLB I will be glad I cancelled my membership a year ago so didn’t waste any more money on it. Saying that, I now support the Green party which could be said is an even bigger waste of money based on their chances of ever having more than 1 MP.

Being a vegetarian is pretty bloomin easy these days

Agree. They is very little reason not to be vegetarian. Very well catered for with labelling, restaurant menus, availability of everything you need etc,. Was a lot harder when I became vegetarian in 1984

The only candidate who could do the job as a serious and professional politician is Starmer. That would have been great 20 years ago but that aspect doesn’t matter anymore when it comes to voting.

  • I don’t care deeply about aero gains

Fine, just get a road bike you most like the look of then. I don’t think the difference between a standard road bike and a slightly more aero bike will be anywhere near enough difference to make it more fun and less sluggish.

  • The frame will never make that much difference, how different is an aero frame to a non aero frame and how much impact does the frame have on the overall aerodynamics (you are talking saves against low single figure %).

And if you are commuting does it really matter if you are 0.2 mph faster overall?

As I don’t run brakes I can change bars…[Read more]

A very odd choice for a geared frame, sounds like a cheap bodge way of making/selling a frame. Still if people buy them… 🙂

Would you give your child a model penis to play with? A toy gun etc…

I count myself as very lucky – as a boy my parents gave me a penis shaped gun

  • I would sell it. I only have one bike at a time and that one bike is not really suitable for most things I do on it but I like riding it which is the main reason I ride a bike.

    They are most definitely not

They most definitely are. Give me full power to do what I want and I could fix climate change within a few years. I would probably be killed within the first week due to the majority of people hating what I have planned though.

I’ll remember TJs advice next time I need to ring staff members after a bad job to see if they’re ok. I’ll just leave them sitting feeling hopeless and unsupported until they return to work as I can’t possible call them for a chat.

Well there are workers protections and there is moving with the times. TJ doesn’t seem to have realised that fo…[Read more]

Why did you start this thread. I have always wanted one but know it would make no sense. Your second picture is exactly what I would want (maybe with slightly narrower tyres)

There are not many readily available though last time I looked (around 6 months ago).

  • The US is pretty bad. Spent a few weeks working in Columbus and Delaware and they don’t even have pavements. I walked from the office back to my hotel (around 1 mile) and everyone though I was crazy. After walking along grass verges to get there I saw why.

  • Also, I’ve posted 1500 or so items now with hermes… 6 lost, 2 damaged. That ain’t bad at all. Lots delayed by a day or two.

Sounds bad to me. I have posted over 1,000 items with Royal Mail – none lost, none damaged, 2 delayed with I claimed for and got some money back.

  • kerley replied to the topic Smoking break vs Time in lieu in the forum Chat Forum 3 days ago

All depends where you work and how you work. I am lucky that I don’t have to account for every minute of my time and can go for a break whenever I want, have an extended lunch, have no lunch, leave early, leave late etc,.
Others in the same company, say on the helpdesk, have strict breaks as described above.

The smoking part is irrelevant as…[Read more]

  • If you want fast and trike, get a sinner mango

    I don’t think that get’s within the £1,000 budget 🙂

In fact not much does so just get a road bike for £1,000 that you most like the look of and ride it as fast as you can. At that price liking how it looks is about as important as all the other factors and any modern road bike will be faster t…[Read more]

Exactly. They are a protest group not a policy based political party looking to get into government.
Best way to stop cities relying on cars is not allowing cars into cities. Other solutions (walk, electric bus, electric scooter and so on would soon be found)

Most of the climate change challenges are very simple to fix. The problem is that the…[Read more]

If the only question is over what is most enjoyable then they would need to test a few. The weight my not make is less enjoyable but other factors might.
I don’t ride where I need a very capable bike and I didn’t like 29 inch wheels. They felt very big on first ride and didn’t really get much better. Yes they are faster but I am riding for…[Read more]

  • sunken manhole covers and potholes – where the heck do ya’ll live?

Most live in the UK I would guess as it is primarily a UK website. The roads in the UK are awful and in fact I find it more comfortable riding on gravel roads where I live than the tarmac roads.

As for tubeless, if you are pumping the tyres up every other ride, or indeed any mor…[Read more]

  • would 300 grams make a significant difference accelerating?

If the 300g was all in the rim it would be noticeable but definitely not in the significant difference category when it comes to any time/speed differences. To me, the feeling better is key rather than any scientific differences so if I was continually accelerating and decelerating…[Read more]

You are definitely in the over thinker category 🙂

But then as an under thinker/impulsive buyer type I would often be in a better position if wish I though about stuff a bit more.

At 90kg I doubt a kg of weight off on the bike wouldn’t make much difference accelerating.
