  • And once a vehicle is behind them and has not crashed into their rear the approaching vehicle has seen them and they can turn the bloody things off – even in thick fog!!

This is so true. Almost every it is a bit misty I seem to have to sit at a traffic light with the vehicle in front with it’s rear fog light on.
As for bulb changing, I was v…[Read more]

The communication issue is not restricted to Skoda dealerships, but the response to such problems is revealing. I took my partner’s Polo for its MOT and service. They asked if we wanted to change the brake fluid, I said no as a mate has a hygrometer to test for water in the fluid and that I would check to see if it was necessary. The service girl…[Read more]

We are three weeks into this election, and so far We have not had a single piece of literature from any of the parties, nor have we had anyone canvassing. This follows the pattern for all of the general election campaigns since we moved here 25 years ago. We have never had a canvasser in that time period, and the only election literature that I…[Read more]

    Blacks/Sports Direct is another.
Our Hermes delivery agent won’t deliver to anyone on our track, so I either avoid Retailers who use them, or if I know that they use them get sent to work, or if unsure(some ebay sellers say they use RM but then a Hermes tracking code pops up) use work address.
Our RM guys are really good

You might be unlucky with the dealership, in my experience of two local Skoda franchises one was excellent whilst the other…..
I wouldn’t go to one after being told at the first service that the brake discs and pads needed replacement due to corrosion. I was told they had taken the wheels off to inspect them. I could prove to them that the…[Read more]

  • And by that logic do you phone them and tell them when you fit your winter rims ?

Yes, I always do, even though the company has said that they don’t need to know, they always note a modification and issue new documents each time, FOC.
The winter alloys are genuine OEM and are listed as compatible with the vehicle by the manufacturer, after…[Read more]

  • As long as the rolling radius is the same, you are likely to get a more comfortable ride and less likelihood of rim damage. Not sure about the handling aspect. The Skoda I had went from 18″ to 16″ rims with winter tyres and it did loose some of the initial bite on turn in but that could simply be to the tread blocks moving around.

  • If suspension comfort is a priority, then you might find an R estate a bit on the firm side unless it has the DCC option, especially if it has 19″ wheels. It is well damped but ‘busy’ at lower speeds on a typical UK road surface.in my experience it’s acceptable.

  • jimw replied to the topic CH boiler losing pressure in the forum Chat Forum 1 month ago

We had a year old Worcester Bosch boiler start to loose pressure. Spoke to them on the phone, they suggested checking for leaks as ‘couldn’t be the boiler’. No leaks anywhere, got to the point that it would lose 1bar overnight and I was topping up pressure every morning. Still no sign of water. They came out ‘ we’ll have to charge you if there is…[Read more]
