    Only a suggestion but have you tried bending it back. I did the same on a newer model and sorted it with the aid of adjustable spanners and a vice. I also bent my finger at the same time in a rather unnatural way. That wasn’t so easily sorted.

    I’d go for ones you can slip off for belaying and drink breaks. I used to have some elasticated ones that were fantastic for that (Boreal Ninja). I now have some Climb X ones which are great for climbing (and cheap too) but I do wish I could take them off without the faff. Maybe I’ve just got soft.

  • To get the window off, they use a thin wire which is pushed through the sealant and pulled all the way round – a bit like a cheese wire. I suppose a gear cable might work.
