Turns out I can’t make it so before I ring the campsite to cancel my tent pitch if anyone wants it give me a shout and I’ll change the details.Posted 2 weeks ago | Go to post

I’ve got a viper and a quark and not particularly impressed with either to be honest. The viper has poor beam throw and the quark’s beam is adjustable between narrow and really narrow, it’s also generally quite clunky and fitted with baggy elastic. Both have poor battery life and have had since day one, it certainly isn’t anywhere like that advertised on the alpkit site.
They both seem great on paper which is why I bought them but in reality they’re not brilliant. (badum-tish!)Posted 2 weeks ago | Go to post
Had a 1030 and sold it to buy into Wahoo, first a Bolt and now a Roam. It has 95% of the functions but they work 100% of the time.
I was a bit dubious about its off-road navigation ability but it works well enough that I don’t miss the Garmin with OS mapping.
The only thing which did bug me was the lack of Varia radar which I found surprisingly useful but wahoo have updated their computers to support it so I’m perfectly satisfied now.Posted 1 month ago | Go to post

I’ve got a Canford, really nice solid watch in the flesh and gets great reviews across various watch websites even though they acknowledge that on paper it doesn’t look great value.
I’ve had a couple of email conversions with the owner and always found him to be a really helpful guy.Posted 1 month ago | Go to post

Orient have a new Orient Star diver out which looks really nice and is a bit different to the usual sub “homages”.Posted 1 month ago | Go to post
Reply to: 2019 General Election
I’ve decided Labour are going to win, you heard it here first.
If I’m wrong it’ll be the first time I’ve got an election or referendum result wrong in the last 6yrs give or take so the weight of history is on my side – if that’s not just a little bit grandiose!Posted 1 month ago | Go to post
I’ve done it on S-Works Renegades and 43mm Gravel King SKs in the past and will be using the Gravel Kings again this time round.Posted 1 month ago | Go to post

It’s nowhere near as good as all the advertorials say it is and I find the move to a subscription based model really irritating when I paid upfront for the complete/premium package a while ago.
In fact, its a shit app and it annoys me just thinking about it!Posted 3 months ago | Go to post
I know this one! You’re Scotland, your Mrs is England, her sister is the EU and I claim my brexit 50p…

I’m just going to leave this link to a new range of Seiko 5s here:
Shiny precious thingses…
Hmm, too uniform across the range IMHO. But, thats made my SNZF017 a classic if it wasn’t already – I’d better hang on to it. 🙂
As a range I agree but there are a few nice ones in there – very tempted by the black and red.Posted 5 months ago | Go to post
Flapjacks are usually quite fatty so reduce the rate of carb absorbtion apparently – both of the flapjack and subsequent foods. Not the end of the world most of the time but can have an impact depending on exercise intensity and how you schedule your food intake etc.Posted 5 months ago | Go to post

My pet hate is taking a wheel off to put my mtb in my large estate car so today I’m off to look at the new…wait for it… Ssangyong Turismo!
Huge, cheap and ugly with seats that fold to make beds whilst still leaving room for a couple of bikes with their wheels on.
I’m looking forward to sitting in a sea of faux leather and 2nd rate Korean plastics safe in the knowledge I’ve saved 30 seconds pissing about with my front axle.Posted 6 months ago | Go to post
WTAF were Movistar doing!? I saw quintana up the road in a break (good plan) which was losing time and thought that he’d sit on and chill till landa caught up and then do what he could. Instead he carried on working in the group, then got dropped then did **** all.
The atmosphere at the team dinner table must have been amazing.Posted 6 months ago | Go to post
Luke Rowe pacing the peloton up the cat 1 highlights how passive most other GC teams are.Posted 6 months ago | Go to post
You’d think Cummings would at least fancy a crack at today.
I’m still not sure about the time bonuses, I don’t like them in theory but equally, if we must have them then I don’t think 8 seconds makes it worthwhile to have a proper go from distance so something like 30 seconds would be better.Posted 6 months ago | Go to post

As somebody who has absolutely no coaching qualifications, no race history beyond a handful of crits and time trials and no ability to resist a pastry based snack but who does have borderline obsession with coaching podcasts such as Fast-Talk & Trainerroad etc I’m upto 50% certain you need to significantly increase the rest you get. Not just rest from training/racing stress but also just general life stress.
There’s been a few podcasts recently all saying the same thing – compromised immune systems and all your other issues could easily be caused not by overtraining as such but by under resting.
But IANACoach.Posted 6 months ago | Go to post
