  • They used Iggy Pop’s The Passenger. It wasn’t long before they had edited out the line about the city’s ripped backside.

I’ve known the lyrics to that for years, and just re-read them to make sure I’m not missing something, but I can’t see that they’re as rude as you think they are.

I agree with TJ about Walk on the Wild Side though. I’ve…[Read more]

Why is this always used as some sort of insult, of course they are leased who in their right mind puts cash into a depreciating asset when for a few hundred a month you can have one,

    How many hundred per month?

Someone I know spends over £500 per month leasing the two cars in the household. I’m not sure how much I’d need to be earning befo…[Read more]

Without going back to check. I did not forsee Japan beating Ireland at all.

I don’t think any sensible person would have predicted that Ireland were going to be so poor this RWC.

The English press, to be precise.

    No. The British national press.

England losing works for a lot of people.

I don’t think so, in this case, being English media. The news report felt like they were looking for an excuse for England’s loss, other than SA were a better team on the day.

I noticed that the news last night reported the game with words along the lines of ‘South Africa wanted the win more because Kolisi would be the first black captain to win the cup’.

If only the rest of the world could find something to motivate them, eh?

It isn’t an old English team, the spine of it will be back in 4 years. You can take heart from that.

    It isn’t an old S.A. team… 😁

    Ok, I was wrong,

First team to win a World Cup having lost a game. Told you that Wales didn’t need to beat Australia. 😁

Beautifully set up try. (First ever for SA in a RWC final!!)

That England assault on the S.A. line, there were at least 5 penalties, 3 neck rolls and Faf intentionally offside. How that wasn’t a yellow I’ve no idea.

Because the ref didn’t see them, or didn’t consider them penalties. This is the same ref I complained about last week and was told not to. He is immensely inaccurate.

    SA fans had actuall…[Read more]

South African Loosehead KEEPS collapsing the scrum, but referee keeps blaming Dan Cole!

That’s weird because Cole is complaining about Mtwarira driving upwards. How can he collapse the scrum by driving up?

(Back in 2009 the Lions test hinged on scrum penalties given against Vickery. His opponent was Mtwarira. I remember complaining on here t…[Read more]

Whats the definition of downhill you are using, and what would qualify? It might not be suitable for a national or international DH race, but it’s uplifted trails created specifically for and used exclusively by bikes at an “official” venue.

That’s the point of opening the link that he’s using. Is it proper DH racing? Or is it DH as defined b…[Read more]

In Greggs I regularly used to loudly proclaim “tomato ketchup” please.

You’ve just reminded me of a friend on a bike touring trip in mid-Wales, years ago. He became apoplectic after being corrected several times by the waitress in a cafe.

Him : Can I have sos please?

Her : Sos? You mean sauce?

Repeat until very red in the face.

A full day (10-12 runs) at BPW gets you probably 1 to 1.5 hours of riding, depending on the trails

He says DH. Depends what he means by that but BPW isn’t DH.

I couldn’t open the link where he took the stats from but I’m guessing it’s not a very comprehensive set.

Any chance we could leave the playground insults out, chaps?

Apologies one and all. The word ‘insufferable’ would never have been uttered in my school’s playground.

    On the scone thing..

With butter and jam everyone accepts the butter goes first, so why would you changes this when you have clotted cream?

    Because cream isn’t butter?

I have a small amount of butter spread over my scones, followed by jam. I have a frankly huge amount of clotted cream. The jam w…[Read more]
