I mean we all do hip flexor stretches. That’s virtually a primary stretch / warrior pose and all that.

Surely – if we strengthened out hip flexors it would help with going up stairs, hills, med to fast paced running etc.

When I squat it’s more about pushing my knees away from my chest.

I don’t ‘drop’ in my squat but neither do I take 2 seconds to reach the bottom.

I would have thought hip flexor strength would be the opposite.

Seams to be a very unloved muscle.

Why don’t we do any specific exercise for these?

The only one I can think of are mountain climbers which has only become mainstream in the last 5-10 years and is certainly not considered a must do movement at the gym. I don’t see anyone ever doing high knees.

Surely for anyone clipped in or runners it’s a…[Read more]

    W00dster – that sounds rubbish.

My daughter is loving rugby at the moment and I can see her wanting to play well into adulthood. You have hit on my biggest fear.

Look like ceatine is cheap enough from Bulk Powders so worth a try. Expecially if there is no huge chance of negative side effects.

I don’t lift as in ‘lift’ but I have just joined a gym to deadlift. It’s taken me a month to get to 1.5x bodyweight so completely stoked with that. Not interested in more – maintaining that for as long as I can would…[Read more]

Thanks – a bit of reading to do. Endurance is not my goal – a 2 hour ride/session is me done. But I am a ‘max effort in short spurts’ type person.

Creatine = weight gain huh? from extra muscle? or just in general? I’m one of those weird people who gain mass by just looking at a barbell and more mass is the last thing on my goal list.

  • Earl replied to the topic 45y+ T-boosters, creatine etc… in the forum Chat Forum 2 weeks ago

I think I might jump on the Creatine then for now.

From what I’ve read (and youtube), a bit more testosterone in mid life is a positive thing for mind and body. But in UK, unless you really need it, don’t think its available to the normal Joe. A bit more research into if T-boosters actually work might be in order. Just read a review on the Bulk…[Read more]

  • Not sure where my other post went…

I’m a still as active as I was 15y ago – bike, strong lift, yoga etc.

Noticing the slowdown of age. Thinking of taking some of the above supplements long term in addition to the fish oil I’m already on.

Anyone else? Noticed much of a difference? Pos? Neg?

A binary watch around £20 from eBay. More power of 2 but it makes them think.

  • Earl replied to the topic Rock Tape – budget alternative? in the forum Chat Forum 1 month ago

I mean you can easily buy generics rolls off ebay – I did once and it had very little stick.

Will head to Aldi to see if they have lurking around.

  • Earl replied to the topic Rock Tape – budget alternative? in the forum Chat Forum 1 month ago

Tape on skin isn’t going to help with skeletal issues.

To give support, promote awareness and restrict range of motion while rehabbing. Well that’s what the physo told me when this all happened last time. Even showed me how to tape – mighty nice of him.

  • Earl replied to the topic Rock Tape – budget alternative? in the forum Chat Forum 1 month ago

In this instance to keep my kneecap in place. Electrical tape is too inflexible for knees and shoulders.

  • Rock Tape (kinesiology tape) is £10 on sale for a 5m roll.

Anyone found a budget alternative that sticks the same?

  • Only gotcha with a Thud is the layback – its very layback. On one of my bikes its way behind the bb even with the saddle slid all the way forward.

I’ve been using Brave for a few months now. Occasionally when things don’t work I have to turn off the’Ad’ replacement feature for the website. So works 99% of the time. Pity can’t use it on chrome books.

So far I have earned 3 BAT which is a solid 0.71 usd. Sweet.

  • Earl replied to the topic Winter or All Season Tyres? in the forum Chat Forum 2 months ago

I’m looking at getting some Maxxis all season tyres too (AP3? just released). Pretty good reviews and £20 a corner cheaper than a Goodyear.

Same company as the MTB tyres I assume??? Funny how they are scrambling just to get to the midrange charts in the car tyre world.

  • ElShalimo – sawdust logs would be the ideal – especially if I can find a local producer. As above – if any one knows someone local to Bristol…..

  • Oh – fair enough. I saw it on a number of fuel websites and it looked convenient. Never tried it at all.

Anyone know of a Bristol producer of compressed sawdust logs or similar?

  • What are peat briquettes like to burn on a stove? I’m in the middle of Bristol so a defra area.
