  • Whenever I go up to tynemouth to visit the 8nlaws everyone’s burn8ng coal still on their open fires/ stoves. More yellow sulphur smoke upon there than you see in the south. Old habits I guess.

  • Did see the roses but it was on the second coming tour in Newport centre. Someone chucked a cardiff city top on stage and Ian brown put it on. Cue lots of aggro afterwards outside as the cardiff/ Newport casuals we’re bottling each other outside. Muppets. Great gig though and the wind up from darkness to kick off as they played the first track f…[Read more]

Funnily enough I was in Blandford on Friday after a meeting at okeford hill with the bike park tenant. Lovely area and lots of nice villages around there. The bike park itself is mega steep though. Opens again on April 4 th.

Sixpenny handley tollard royal are also nice. Okeford fitzpaine is off the main Rd and a bit quieter than shillingstone.…[Read more]

That game with all those red cards/ handbags they should just call it off when it gets to that stage. 0 points each. Everyone goes home and the fans get their money back on the tickets.

just been reading about the Alta. looks like the owners couldn’t get a tug co to come and get it for whatever reason – didn’t have the cash? Seems nuts that you can just let it drift and abandon it. Now the Irish are stuck dealing with it for no other reason than a storm blows it onshore.

my cousin and her hubby have been with us today in Hants. His mum is 100 yds from the Usk so we’ve been monitoring levels there via websites. I think the flash point was 12pm today as tide was high in Newport then and water baked up. I think the flood defences held. The levels were the highest recorded since the defences went in I believe.

The makita ones are good. I’ve got a top handled version of the above. It’s great for bits and bobs around the garden and odd jobs.

The chain will still cut you etc so you’ll need to take care. Using a chainsaw on a hedge up a ladder isn’t the easiest or safest introduction.

Also – using it on someone else’s land isn’t a great idea if you do…[Read more]

I’m sure the ea are as frustrated as those on here regarding land management practice (that they don’t control) and development on floodplains etc. They’re the poor souls who have to go stick a plaster on when it goes wrong then get the blame. Regarding clearing ditches etc it’s usually the landowners who are required to keep their ditches clear e…[Read more]

The Selco panels have an extra vertical batten over the b&s ones. Helps with strength.

Didn’t realise they were just trade. Have seen non trade mates in there in the past.

They’re not on sale at the mo and are £21 inc vat for 6×6. May get them cheaper on a quote if you can get a trade account or wait for a deal.

  • burko73 replied to the topic Knives, multi tools, EDC? in the forum Chat Forum 1 week ago

I think the uk knife laws are daft. Plenty of people killed by things that are legal to carry around and those intent on doing someone in or threatening are not likely to care if something’s illegal anyway.

The idea of a locking blade on a leatherman being illegal in the hands of a middle aged cyclist is nuts.

If you can get a licence for a s…[Read more]

You could do closeboard yourself instead of panels. If you’ve already got the concrete uprights you may as well just slot in another panel though.

  • burko73 replied to the topic Buying fence panels in the forum Chat Forum 1 week ago

I think Selco were cheaper than new forest fencing when I last bought panels. I tend to wait until they ave an offer. The panels are decent quality. The delivery helps as well as you can order online and save a trip.

If you’re after fencing golden larch fencing next to paultons park are also decent and not far from new forest fencing. I tend t…[Read more]

I tend to use Selco for fence panels. Decent panels and often on offer. Not likely next week though! They’ll deliver free as well.

  • Aa has it. Someone said to me once you have to imagine your spaniels on an elastic band. You need to keep interacting with it and making being around you fun. If you ignore it (they are dogs with quick minds that need stimulation) they will find something else to do ie the rubber band breaks and it runs off.
