DWR outer fabric is the great con of the 2000s.
I’d tend to agree. Great when new, but very quickly detereiorates into being a bit rubbish and will never come back to 100%.
I’d be interested to try the shakedry stuff in time.

The Korean option will be better specced for much less money than anything German.
As a bonus, everything will keep on working for far longer.
Badge snobbery is so daft.
Think about the grooviest dude or dudette you know, do they drive a German saloon?
If not, would they be even more funktastic if they did?
Thought not 😂
Regardless of phone location, I just can’t fathom how there is so much chatting going on during a race full stop!
I’m doing well just to keep my eyes pointing at the PC screen.
TDZ race round London last night for me – it’s been a while since I’ve tasted that metallic blood tang in the back of my throat….gave my FTP a decent boost though!
Very smart, very able guy.
Also a bit of a blinkered knobber.
Like CP, he’ll likely have 100% correct opinions now, which he quietly contradicts a few years later with the benefit of actual experience. 😂
My tuppenceworth – I don’t think you’ll go far wrong with any of the bikes mentioned. Modern geo hardtails are simply ace.
Three years ago I was in the process of signing off my Chinese Ti frame. It was considered fairly outlandish by many on here at the time
Given the passage of a few years, it is pretty normal. It’s still great fun, rides…[Read more]

As you were.
Tell him to call the cops if he tries it again.
As you say, it’s remarkable how disturbing a bike is in comparison to quads, guns, Landrovers, forwarders, etc.

What deadlydarcy just said ^
I had my first experience of working for a fancy pants London design house earlier this year, for the very bluest of blue chip companies.
In chatting to the manager of the hotel where the work was happening when I went for a look, the figures getting bandied about were utterly ludicrous.
I stuck in a price which was…[Read more]

I’m a week or so into ownership of a Oneplus 7t Pro. IT’s fantastic.
I really missed my Oneplus 3t after moving to Google Pixel 3 a while back. I decided to get back into the Oneplus phone and it makes the Pixel feel pretty low rent tbh.
It’s superfast, great battery, 90hz display is well nice.
Out of interest, I looked at the price for an…[Read more]
Another grinder convert here. Fresh ground beans on an old stovetop Bialetti.
I use an Aergrind which I picked up half price as a trade show demo one. I reckon it makes more difference to the brew than anything. I’m not too fussed on the bean, I haven’t tried anything terrible tbh.
Favourite though is from a great coffeshop local to me,…[Read more]
I’ve used this cowl in exposed locations to stop rain blowing in.
It’s proved very effective.
Forget the cowl, it’ll be condensation.
I’ve seen it plenty, even with kiln dried fuel.
Burn it hotter, or accept that you need a liner to funnel the condensate back down inside the stove.
This is why I don’t connect to clay, and deffo don’t poke a pipe through a reg plate into a void.
Sealing against determined slumbering and tar production is…[Read more]
