grit.cx Gets New Editor

by 4

It’s a time of change for grit.cx and that extends to the staffing too. Jeff Lockwood has piloted grit.cx from the get-go but now it’s time to pass on the mantle of Editor as he moves to new job with bike component brand Ritchey.
Jeff has been a magnificent editor, we are sure you will agree, and we wish him the very best in his new role. But, Jeff promises us he’ll be back and contributing to the grit.cx community just as soon as he’s got his new desk organised properly.
So, with that goodbye we’d like to say ‘hello’ to the new grit.cx Editor, Karen Brooks.
Karen comes to us with more than 20 years of experience in the bicycle industry. After having worked at, and managing, a successful bike shop, Karen was hired at Dirt Rag magazine, where she swiftly became editor. Following her successes there, she was appointed editor of Bicycle Times magazine upon its launch in 2009. More recently, Karen has been actively involved with bicycle advocacy while still writing for bicycle publications and web sites around the world. Karen has been involved with grit.cx since its earliest days. Her notable contributions include Philadelphia Cyclocross School (issue 006), The Secret History of Gravel Grinders (issue 009), and many bicycle reviews and reports from the Eurobike show floor.
“I’ve had a lot of fun working with Jeff and other staffers for Grit.cx,” Karen said. “And I’ve certainly enjoyed reading the stories he has curated. So I’m excited to carry on Jeff’s work. Hopefully I’ll learn once and for all how to properly spell the word ‘tyre’.”
