Women’s Sport Trust recognises CX star in awards nominations

by 0

The Women’s Sport Trust are a charity who seek to identify and promote a diverse range of role models in sport, as well as increasing the percentage and quality of coverage for women’s sport in the media.
They have just announced the shortlist for their #beagamechanger awards. Cycling in general is well represented amongst the categories. Of particular interest to ‘cross fans, though, will be Helen Wyman’s nomination in the “Sporting Role Model” category. She is nominated not just for her incredible sporting achievements, but also for her appointment to the UCI commission, campaigning for equal prize pots for women, and her mentoring of up-and-coming riders. Check Grit issue 001 for our interview with Helen.

Helen is up against footballer, Eniola Aluko; wheelchair tennis player, Jordanne Whiley; and er, Andy Murray.
Other categories see the nomination of Heather Bamforth for her work promoting women’s cycling, Abergavenny Road Club for their grass roots support and women’s sessions, and Traharn Chidley (Singletrack’s newest contributor) for this moving short film.

Good luck to all, and if you’ve got a spare five minutes at lunch, why not pop in a vote?
