EUROBIKE 2015: WTB Cross Boss Tyres & SL8 Saddle

by 0

In addition to its bountiful mountain bike offerings (tyres, wheels, saddles, etc.), Wilderness Trail Bikes (WTB) is starting to show some love to more skinny tyre bike endeavors. The Nano 40c tyres are a good example of that.
Cross Boss Tyres
New this year is the Cross Boss tyres. These 35c cyclocross tyres feature a tread designed to be ridden in dry to damp conditions. WTB says they would be best for hardpack courses that have some sandy sections. The Cross Boss are tubeless ready, and are said to weigh 400g each. The Cross Boss has lower knobs for those less harsh conditions, and the shoulder knobs are spaced a bit further apart for some more grip in the corners.

The WTB Cross Boss tyres are ready for those non-muddy cyclocross races. Such events do exist. Really. We’ve seen them!

More conservative tread for less gnarly courses.

SL8 Saddle
The SL8 Carbon saddle is made to be attached to mountain bikes or road bikes. Its profile is definitely more streamlined (127/225mm) than your average mountain bike saddle, and it’s extremely light at only 146 grams. But WTB representatives say that it can handle the all of the rigors of mountain bike riding, and there’s no rider weight limit. Its carbon rails are not tall, so most standard seatpost clamps will work, eliminating the need for a carbon rail adapter.

The carbon rails on the SL8 are divine. And very lightweight.
