Fluent in Cross – Courses for Newbies

by 0

If you’re the slightest bit ‘cross-curious, watching any local league race or the world’s best on the Internet, you’ll notice riders seem to instinctively know how to flow round the parcours. They make cornering, shouldering, dismounting and remounting look like second nature – skills that just aren’t in the average cyclist’s playbook.
Fluent in Cross have just launched CX skills courses in the North of England, aimed directly at beginners and those wanting to dip their toe into the world of drop-bar, off-road racing.

Split into a half-day basics primer, and a further session on race prep, the courses are run by FiC founders and league racers Mark Turner, a British Cycling Level 2 coach and self-confessed ‘cross addict Alan Dorrington.
With no more than ten riders to a coach, these non-pressured, inclusive sessions will bring out the best from any prospective ‘crosser and give them the basic skills to race with confidence.
The beginners course (£40) will run on Saturday 21st and 27th June in Burnley, Lancashire with another course on race preparation, including more advanced race techniques, slated for July. Over 14’s and particularly women, are welcome, and all sessions include homemade energy snacks!
