After the frenzy of fervour that was the MKWCX last weekend, its back to normality this week, with The B-Post Trophy from Hasselt and the Vlaamse Druivencross from Overijse.

Hasselt B-Post Trophy:

Current elite women road World Champion, Pauline Ferrand-Prevot started her short cross season at Hasselt. Though she didn’t win this time, she showed great form and the promise of great battles in the next couple of weeks.

Wout Van Aert continues to show great form. Though he was beaten by Kevin Pauwels in Hasselt, he is one of the dominant racers, even though he is only 20 years old.

Niels Albert as often seen course-side, giving feedback to his riders, chiefly to Wout Van Aert. Having such an experienced ex-rider in your corner plays an important part in Van Aert’s success.

Overijse Vlaamse Druivencross:

We had to wait for the first proper, wintery, super- muddy race until now. Overijse, my favourite race in the season didn’t fail to deliver. All varieties of mud were present adn made life tricky for racer and supporter alike.

In Belgium, cyclocross races are mostly held on farmers’ land. Farmer’s land mean livestock and said livestock needs to be kept within said farmer’s land. Just because there is a race going on, they won’t remove the barbed wire.

How to make sure to have epic muddy bits on your course? Put the pits at the highest section of the course and let the water pour down to the lower bits. Spectacular mud-splashing is guaranteed!

Don’t forget you can get more images just like these in the Cyclocross Album by visiting the Cyclephotos website and get a round up of last year’s season in the great coffee table book from the 13/14 season.
