I have done 2 shamanic ceremonies inside of Stonehenge. I have always found the National Trust very accommodating, they do give people access to inside the henge at 6am for an hour, (tickets have to be limited to around 20 people), but the staff are very respectful and friendly, so yeah, I was quite impressed with the access given.

My wife’s great grandfathers brother received a VC at ‘Rourke’s Drift’, Private Robert Jones.

Simon ralli – the henge should be open to all – it was a few years ago before thatcher made it a battlefield

The next president of South Africa will be a Zulu. And judging by his anthem which is Umshini Wam – ‘Bring Me My Machine Gun’ it looks like the Zulus have learnt the lesson of Rourke’s Drift, ie : spears are sh1te.

    Jacob Zuma sings Umshini Wam

    TJ, fail again 😆
access to stonehenge was restricted in 1977 (under a labour ‘government’) due to concerns over soil erosion – thought you would have known that, as it’s one of your many specialist subjects!!

Actually, restrictions on access to Stonhenge go back much further than that – Attorney-General v. Antrobus 1905 was a fairly important step in the development of rights of way and access law.

Yeah, If you look in the final scene where they honour the brave defenders, I was between the tenth and twelfth shield from the left, hence the name 😆

Hmmm – faulty memory. I remember going to it in the 70s and having easy access – but having a google you are right in that the fence was put up in the late 70s. What I was thinking of however was the exclusion zone of 4 miles put in place in 1985 to stop the hippies gathering there at the solstice after “the battle of the beanfield”

    Tribalism rocks! (NOT)

When can we expect the next Brigantian Prime Minister of Britain?

You see that’s the problem with Africa – in Europe we stopped defining ourselves as tribes over a thousand years ago (apart from the Scots, who had to be shown the error of their ways in 1745, and the Israelis, who are not just tribal but actually racist)

Oh and the number of VCs awarded at Rourke’s Drift was intended to be a propaganda distraction from the disaster just over the hill at Isandlwana.

No disrespect to the Welsh guys themselves though – that must have been like Custer’s Last Stand – only with survivors!

    Sincere apologies RudeBoy

    Sloppy thinking on my part

The Israeli State, and the Jewish religion, are institutionally racist.

Many, many individual Israelis, and individual Jews, are not racist

Sorry – hope this makes my position clearer – and thanks for the correction
