i currently have Specialized Tahoe shoes and I’m wondering if I’d benefit from something more XC specific as I’m entering the BHF SDW event this year.

I used these shoes last year when I ride the SDW over 2.5 days and they were okay but they don’t feel stiff enough for my new XTR race pedals. (I also have XT trail pedals) I still need to walk some steep sections so the shoes will need to be able to do that.

    Any suggestions for shoes?

    Thanks.

Ones you’ve got will be fine, any difference will be negligible. But if you wanted something stiffer you can’t go wrong with picking a shimano shoe for your budget. Their XC range is good. If it wasn’t shimano I’d have a look at dhb on wiggle. If you want pimp and expensive then specialised.

You shouldn’t have any problems walking short distances if they fit. Common to see people running in them at cx races. I know I’ve walked in mine in longer mtb races and the three peaks.
