Would love to do some low key races locally but there’s nowt on round here (amazingly). What does it take to get something up and running? And does organising immediately preclude you from racing?

Pretty much, yes. If you want to do it properly and keep on top of whats going on, you need to be available for the whole event.

And i think both BC (definitely, i’ve got some which must be 10+ years old) and TLI (probably) have organisers packs available. They have checklists for what you need to do.

Makes life a lot easier if you’re in a club as well.

Hmmm, thought as much. Still someone needs to grasp the nettle. Local clubs have MTB co-ordinators but I don’t think there’s much going on. Will start asking some Q’s.
