So my 7yo went on her first ride on her new bike (24″ wheels, 2.1″ tyres) and the extra confidence meant she immediately wanted to follow me down a small rooty step.  Currently she’s nicely cautious but I suspect that won’t last long!

So can anyone recommend reasonably priced and light elbow/knee pads for kids?  I’m not talking downhill or jumps, just interesting XC.

Jnr is very happy with his over specced Fox Launch Jnr…. and wears them for XC type trails as well as DH.

We tried several other much lower protection pads and he found them uncomfortable and we only bought the Fox Launch for uplift day’s originally but it’s all he wears now as he finds them the comfiest.

The only caveat is I had to remove the label…

My 10 year old has the G-Form kneepads and is happy to wear them for 3 hour rides.

We also have some IXS ones which whilst have more protection wore holes in the back of my 8 year olds knees.

I second G-form and IXS. My kids wear their IXS for all rides.

I personally, (in adult sizes) found the G-form less comfy than my other, “bigger” pads.
