The n+1 urge is upon me and i need to build up an XC bike. Frame is 135mm qr rear and 100mm qr front. Found the groupset (slx). Found the forks (exotic carbon). Now i need new shiny wheels. Tough enough for an 85kg non-jumpy mamil and able to deal with roads and rooty singletrack. Unlikely to encounter anything approaching downhill. What does STW recommend and where might i find the best deals.

Very pleased with my Hunt Trailwides. Don’t know what your budget is, but they were £350.

Thanks tenfoot i’ll go take a look. 350 is probably top of the budget.

DT Swiss X 1900’s can regularly be found for under £300, tough, good spares availability and the new versions are usefully wide at 25mm as well.

The JRA alu xc wheelset is around the price of the Hunts too. More if you go for a stans rim, but the JRA own brand rims are still light and 25mm internal too. I have always had good builds from JRA.
