- WTD: – Cyclocross bike (or a light XC hardtail)
I am potentially on a lookout for an on/off-road geared weekend bike to complement my fixed gear road bike I use around London. I am 5’8″ so looking for a Medium/53-54cm frame.
A cyclocross bike of some sort would probably be perfect for me. Something reasonably light and racey would be nice and so would SRAM gears (not a huge fan of the shape of Shimano levers, but could go for something set up with 105 or higher).
Alternatively I’d also consider a light xc hardtail of some sort. My last proper MTB rides were years ago on a retro rigid Trek 8500 and I would like to have some of that handling/acceleration. I am also used to riding around things rather than over/through them, so don’t need anything too heavy-duty or long travel (and hence the cyclocross idea as well).
No specific budget, but looking at something closer to £500 rather than £1000 up.Posted 6 years agogareth montyMember
