  • Woodthorpe, Nottingham – eating out?

We’re considering a few route options for a cycle tour and one of the proposed stops is in Woodthorpe, NOttingham, to allow a family visit. It’s not our family so we won’t be going along, we’ll be finding our own entertainment for the evening. Is there anything in the area or will we have to head into the town centre? THis will be over the easter weekend.

The Bread and Bitter is five mins away on Mapperly Top, great beers, good food and family friendly. The Lord Nelson in Burton Joyce is a bit further out but again, really good food and a bit “fancier” than what’s on offer at the Bread and Bitter. Thailand no1 in Hockley (city centre) does great Thai food. The Hand On Heart on the Derby Road has a good rep too.

Shame it’s Easter, we’re away. Otherwise we could have invited you over.

Traveller’s Rest is not what it used to be imo, typical chain pub now.

Bombay Indian Brasserie on Mapperley Top is a decent Indian restaurant.

    Woodthorpe Tandoori’s ok.

Bread & Bitter is great though. Busy but provided you’re there in decent time you should be able to get a table, good grub and great booze.

Less than a mile up the road from Woodthorpe towards town in Sherwood though you also have Le Mistral French bistro, Ginza Teppan Yaki, Wetherspoons, Kiosk, and a few Chinese/Indian takeaways

In Sherwood there is a Greek restaurant – Yiannis which is good too
