Need some cheap winter gravel / CX tyres for my SSCX and Mrs HTO’s Boardman CX.

Neither of us have tubeless rims, so TR not essential.

Need to handle winter slop, but also roll OK as a general purpose tyre.

    35/38/40c.

I’ve always got on well with the Continental Cyclo X-King / AT-Ride as a budget tyre (and I’m certainly not about to fork out £30-50 for some of the gravel offerings out there), but is there anything else to consider, especially from the CX side of things?

I always liked Surly Knards for this. Not amazing in proper slop but works great for anything from bad roads through to light trails.

Yep. Run the Nano before, and its a good tyre (although the cheaper wire bead ones are sketchy as __ on greasy tarmac/cyclepaths). However, think they’re actually too big for the mudguards on both our bikes.

Yeas, been down the LC route too before. Certainly cheap, and pretty good rolling, but heavy and dead, and although better in the mud than you might expect, not as good as the Conti’s …
