  • Windows 7 installation size?

It’s finally time to upgrade my computer.
Swapping some bits out and a new W7 pro install.

The OS will run on an SSD, profiles & data on other drives.
Question is what size SSD? 120ish Gb or is it worth spending the extra on a 250 Gb?

    Cheers guys.

Not that big, but you will need to allow 50-60Gb for all the gubbins you’ll end up with, update restore points and whatnot. 60Gb is considered enough for a single partition for Windows. I would go 128Gb if buying an SSD just in case.

    I have my W7 install on a 60Gb SSD
    It takes up 24.4Gb, and there’s a 1Gb pagefile
11.2Gb of that is the notorious winsxs file, but I havent installed/uninstalled too many apps so it shouldnt be too big. I moved to the 60Gb from a 32Gb because the winsxs folder had got massive.

It’s not just size, larger SSD are faster too.

(you read and write across more memory chips in parallel)
