Doesn’t sleep, just turns off despite what settings I choose

If you specifically checked that setting I mentioned, on this page:

“Save me power when Cortana knows I’m away”

Then I’d guess something’s wrong with it.

I’ve been on win 10 for a a year now, after buying a win 8.1 machine and taking the free upgrade.

Jumping from an ancient win xp machine to this, I’m perfectly happy with it. Sure it’s a bit different to look at and it buries it’s functions a bit more in an effort to be slick and user friendly, but it’s brilliantly stable, handles software updates and peripheral devices way better and is just nicer to use all round. It’s alot happier with 8gig ram instead of 4 though.

Settings wise, I have checked and selected the ones you all mention but this is the root of the problem, it just doesntseem to retain them and does its own thing. So it switches off instead of sleeping and when it starts again… needs it all resetting.

I think its time to step away from the thread, thanks for the pointers and I will crack on. Help “at a distance” is great but having the thing in front of me and ratching around using your help is I think, the way to go…

Where are you? I would come and take a look if I were nearby.
