I see groupon is doing a deal on a Tefal Actifry, anybody got one who could recommend it or will it end up with pride of place next to the sandwich toaster at the back of the never opened kitchen cupboard?
Always fancied one as we use the oven a lot which generally means a fair bit of oil too.

Just get a deep fat fryer and embrace actual flavor, just have chips less often if the fat worries you.

Not exactly an answer but reading this last week did put me off buying one. We’ll keep a chip pan where the faff, smeech and knowledge it’s really bad for you mean it’s rarely used.

Great idea until you get it out for the 1st time in 6 months to find the oil/fat/lard/beef dripping has turned green.

We really like our Actifry, chips are ok & tandoori chicken/curries are ace. Loads of other stuff can be done in them as well.

Other half has one, takes an age to cook anything. Would avoid.

We got a Phillips Airfry, which doesn’t stir the contents, so can be used for things like pies, arancini (the real reason for getting it) which would not survive the stirring action on the Actifry. It is taller, but a smaller footprint too.

It’s great for up to 2 portions of frozen chips – crisper and quicker than a normal oven, or for small quantities of most things. It gets used most weeks, and sits in a cupboard the rest of the time between uses. We will definitely get another when this one dies.

Fat is not bad for you. If you want to fry stuff, do it in a deep fat fryer.
