Not the actual cooking part of things (I can cook), but more a request for assistance with what to buy.

The wife’s away for another night at her sister’s place and, after a binge out on ‘special’ beans on toast last night (special because it had a layer of cheese under the beans _AND_ on top of them…) I feel like going continental and getting some tortellini in for tonight.

However, I can’t decide on what sort. Ham & cheese? Spinach & ricotta? Chicken & bacon? So many good choices. HELP ME!

I plan on getting a sauce to smother it in (probably tomato-based) and a bag of grated mozzarella to empty over the top if that helps.

That’s not a balanced diet. You need carbs, protein and salads/veg.

So that’s a kebab for the win.

Beans on toast! Shakes head with disgust.

    The correct answer can be only;

Too many burgers and home made chips with lashings and lashings of beer. (4 burgers in my case. NO REGRETS!!)

I don’t really drink any more, but if I did, I’d be hedging more to a glass of something robust, red and full bodied. My heart says Malbec, but my brains says Chianti

    I think I’m missing something.

Why aren’t you getting ordering a curry and getting beers from the shop?

My wife would wonder what’s going on if she didn’t come home to empty beer cans and a faint smell of curry in the house.

Anything other than beans on toast and pasta you chuck in boiling water?

I had spicy sausage tortellini at the weekend when I was on my own, though spinach and ricotta is my favourite. Other meals were prawn stir fry and chicken curry, both using bought sauce, but otherwise fresh/frozen ingredients.

The standard home alone meal here is steak, chips and beer.

aracer, yes, far more than just stuff I can chuck in water. However, I have a bundle of new bike bits to swap on to the Stumpy tonight, so I do not want to waste any more of the evening than I have to with prep. And I need something that the dogs can enjoy too.

As for the parmesan/mozzeralla bitch-fight: leave it… I want stringy, melty cheese on my pasta! If I was cooking poncy stuff for friends, I’d use the proper stuff, but this is for me!

Also, no booze and no curry. I farted myself to sleep last night with the beans and don’t want to do the same thing tonight.

Spinach and ricotta tortellini with arrabiata sauce, mixed salad (balsamic dressing natch) and focaccia. Gelato and espresso for afters. Sorted 🙂

What? Booze, curry and farty sleep? That’s the perfect man-evening for one!

This is another dbcooper trap isn’t it?

Dammit man! I can’t risk gassing the dogs, even if they have done worse to me in the past! Also, I’m in the office tomorrow, so something that’s likely to have anti-social after effects the next day is out.

    It’s fish innit ^^

They are actchewally really good 😀

If it was my choice however I too would just do steak, chips, peas and beer.
