Looking for somewhere this summer, really enjoyed Bourg St Maurice last year which would be ideal if it weren’t for an apparent lack of suitably sized accommodation (looking for 4+ bedrooms). Any ideas for places with nice pools etc for the non riders?

Alternatively if anyone knows any accomodation in Bourg that would be great.

Like the singletrack and accessibility to places like Tigne but don’t want to stay anywhere too resorty.

    Hi mate, it’s Jen 🙂

There is no shortage of larger accommodation in Bourg/Les Arcs, but the trouble is that it’s not really a villa/pool kind of place. There are a couple of places that have guest pools attached in 1800 and over the Vanoise in Montchavin and some of these might have bigger apartments to rent (not sure which firms they might be – maybe MGM?). Otherwise there’s a public pool down in Bourg. If the pool becomes less of a priority then have a search on homeaway or owners direct for a chalet rental.

Here are some details on the new aquatic centre in 1800:

The only problem with MTBing from 1800 is that you need to make sure you make the last lift on the cachette, but other than that it’s a nice spot in the summer IMO. South facing so nice and sunny, plus enough people around for it not to feel like a ghost town in summer!

Pretty tricky. Things for non riders tend to be in ‘resorty’ places. Morzine for example has heaps for non riders (pools, museum, ice rink, spa, shops) but is very much a resort (although hardly the Costa Brava).
