He has just beaten Sam Hill, Steve Peat and Gee Atherton in the first round of the UCI downhill world cup…and by some margin too. I recognise the name but I can’t say I know much about him from the mags and t’interweb coverage. Anyone shed any light?

Hes been around for quite a few years and has featured on some of the Earthed series of films. I think hes always been ‘up there’ perhaps in the top 10 or 15, but hes maybe only won one or two world cup rounds previous to this

I spoke to him in 2007 after the Mountain of Hell at 2Alpes in France – all round nice guy. Can’t remember his finish, top 20 though (a completely different discpline to downhill btw)
