Of course most answers are based on opinion. Some opinion is based on evidence, some on experience, some on anecdote and some on ignorance. The judgement is how to weigh each answer.
To take one example – cynic-al was modifying a frame to take a disk mount. He got lots of responses along the lines of “it won’t work” and “you’ll die”. However, most (if not all) of those came from folk who had no evidence to support their assertion. What value should he have put on those? If someone comes along and writes “I’ve done that and it didn’t work because…..” that obviously deserves a bit more consideration.
