Where to buy Ellsworth from in the UK?

Hello I just joined to see if anyone could point me in the direction of Ellsworth, I know Freeborn used to sell them, but they don’t anymore? Who deals with them in the UK now?
I have been on the website, looks as if I can only buy from the States direct? But that will cost a fortune for shipping, and they don’t have a UK price on that website? Surely someone in the UK must be dealing with them? I used to have a couple years ago, and saw the Rogue 60 a few months back and really want to get my hands on one.

Anyone help me??

As you mention, it used to be Freeborn but no longer.
I believe that there is currently no distributor in the UK so direct to the US is the only route.

Do they have distributors set up in any other european countries?
If so that might be an easier route than direct from the states as there won’t be any import duties to worry about.

There website doesn’t give details of any dealers, anywhere. I have sent an email, just waiting to see what they say.

I think there are many superior alternatives that’d take you much less effort to buy these days.

What could you class as Superior? I have been looking at a number of different bikes, it came down to a Pivot or Ellsworth. My thinking is I want a bike that looks the part and wont go out of date next year when the colour changes. With an Ellsworth or Pivot you have a great bikes, looks modern, good spec options and light whilst its a current model for more than a year. If I can’t get a Ellsworth in the UK I will look at getting a Pivot. Just really taken by the look of the Ellsworth Rogue 60!

No bike goes out of date just because they bring in a new one.

If I’m honest mate I’d go Pivot. There’s a uk dealer network for support etc if you did have an issue.

Also Tony Ellsworth is a bellend. Don’t think he has anything to do with the brand anymore but still.

Pivot is distributed by Upgrade bikes. They support loads of UK races and stand by their products.

Buy a Pivot and some of this.

As others have said I’d be very wary of buying without any dealer backup etc in the UK. Pivot’s very well regarded in general as well.

+ 1000000 for not buying an Ellsworth.

I think everyone here is being commendably restrained.

TBH Ellsworth have fallen so far off everyone’s radar that if they did have a distributor they’d have gone out of business.

Pivot is a much more reputable brand these days, as others have said.

Got to agree…i use to own an Ellsworth but lived only a few miles from Freeborn so when i damaged the threads on the rocker it was easy/quick to get solved. Can’t see that happening now.

I’ve been emailing Ellsworth. Turns out they will have a new distributor in the UK for 2018. Also ordered myself an Ellsworth regardless of everyone’s comments.

Fair play to the OP (assuming he ain’t Mr Ellsworth in disguise). Always respect a man who’s willing to put his dosh where his gob is.

That said, as with most new bikes he’ll probably want to swap out the wheels for something better at the earliest opportunity.

That being the case he may want to have a look at Dave Hinde’s website for some proper deals.. 😉

I haven’t looked at Ellsworth for ages but now they’ve got rid of the strange over-long linkage they don’t look that much more gopping than the majority of full sus bikes (except that decal font).

For all you ellsworth haters out there, I’m still riding a 2001 Ellsworth isis sl., !00mm travel.

Any other similar bike from that time would be shorter, steeper, more flexy, would have probably snapped ,have a top tube you’d have to pole vault over and have a pivot point somewhere near the head tube [orange 5 of similar vintage]

It’s anodised matt black whilst most bikes look like shell suits to me.

so yes, Ellswoths are rubbish, won’t last and you will be the subject of much derision. Just go for it op.

I also have a set of dave hind wheels that have lasted 14 years with only one broken spoke in that time and have hardly ever needed any re-truing, [best wheels I’ve ever owned, and I’ve wrecked a few. So there you go.

Sorry to disappoint its not me, I don’t even work in a bike shop.

I have to say there is a lot of hate for Ellsworth, and i bet a few of the people spouting hate for them are just jumping on the hate bandwagon, with out even truly knowing anything about Ellsworth.

A little disappointing that this forum is so juvenile. I didn’t think the same kids from pinkbike used this forum.

To be fair to the OP he didn’t ask any of the above, he asked where he could buy one. From a quick look back he never actually asked for anyone’s opinion on Ellsworth as a company or on any of their products.

You lot then just jumped in and gave your opinion of Ellsworth and the look of their bikes, which he didn’t ask for.

Plenty of people buy bikes others warn against, see Evil for example.
