3 days based around Rusland in the lakes.
rode breasty haw, devils gallop, wood yard, lakeshore, claife heights, knipe fold, arnside, hodge close tilberthaite, tarn howes, high cross, monk Coniston moor, parkamoor and moor lane.

it was misty, wet and miserable, but I loved it to bits.
and the Loweswater Gold in the Tower bank arms and the Eagles Head was like pure liquid heaven……….. 8)

Manchester Velodrome. It’s a roundish indoor thing you don’t need pictures.

Having done two metric centuries back to back last weekend, this weekend I went for the old fashioned variety. Ended up with 167Km and 2700m of ascent. Struggled a bit around halfway due to not eating enough – a cafe stop sorted that out 😆

Saturday went to the Peak with the Local guys and had a cracking ride around Ladybower, which involved some plumb and top tube interaction!

Sunday went to Cannock with the wife, which was very nice as well! Though we discovered her forks are on their last legs, which she’s decided means new bike time.

A large gathering yesterday remembering a friend who passed away 3 years ago. It was great catching up with folk I hadn’t seen in a while, there was plenty of chit chat, tons of good natured verbal abuse, close calls on the bikes, but most of all tons of fun…. and we put a few more stones on the wee memorial cairn.

It was a cracking morning and the sun even shone on us for a while.

I have a 3 hour window of opportunity for a post-manflu, no toddler responsibility xc hack: cwmcarn or FoD today … decisions, decisions…

oh you can push that 3hr window to 5 shirley?

FoD will be nice I reckon. Between a clan-fest and spring conditions last weekend but local woods above Ross have dried out completely in a week. Cwmcarn will be fast 🙂

Yat/Staunton for us tomorrow. Full day out. Should be pretty good. Went a month ago and in the immortal words of David Coleman ‘He’s gone too early’… pretty much slippy death on every trail.

Alex…local woods above Ross, where I slipped and opened up a 2 inch gash between my lower gums and inside lip yesterday ! Nice day for it though !

Grabbed the only dry bit of the weekend around here I reckon for the normal local loop. Need some spring weather to dry out some more trails.

Night of the toad last night, riding at speed they are just sitting there stock still in the middle of the path like little green statues, it was toad slalom! I have to confess I might have run over several. 😥 they don’t make much noise when you roll over them, I expected them to go POP.

Picked up my new truck this week so first try out with bikes in the back onto the edge of the moor. Only 90 mins , successfully dodged the showers, didn’t scare any walkers on the cheeky bit but scared my mate who’s not good with heights (in my defence I didn’t know that before!)

Depressingly damp and windy since then though

Did my first Audax today in wet and windy Carmarthenshire. Who knew trying to find the number on a fire hydrant in the middle of nowhere in a south-westerly could be so much fun.

Built a nice new descent in the local Woods on Wednesday, then sessioned it yesterday.

FoD in the end, no time for exploring so two laps of Verderers, no mud or gloop – just enough moisture to keep it grippy. Then the family trail today for junior’s first visit to the FoD: 40 minutes for the full circuit on a tag-along.

I was idly perusing the Strava heat map when I noticed some tracks on a nearby hill that I’d never ridden. So I went out to rectify that.

A day spent getting utterly drenched on some hills in the lakes on Saturday.
