Just looking for average quality old school square taper cranks.

Are they being fazed out? CRC have 1 choice for square taper mountain bike cranks.
Shimano alivio or something for £30.

Anyone know where to get these from. It’s for an old but good bike so would like something lx/xt standard.

Alivio is every bit as good as LX ever was.

I’ve got Alivio on my touring bike (octalink rather than ST), done over 3000km so far with no issues. Decathlon stock a few square taper cranks and bb’s.

No good new stuff is ST. By good I mean says xt or whatever a current alvio won’t be far off older stuff in quality.

Or look on retro bike.

I’ve got a 2nd hand but good condition set of RaceFace Turbine square tapers cranks i’ve been meaning to get rid of for a while..

Always worth checking SJS Cycles for that sort of stuff.

I still run square taper on my bikes – and my new Surly Disc Trucker came with sq from Spa last year.
On my MTBs I run Middleburn cranks (RS7 and Uno).

I got my NOS XT737 cranks for £50. Took some waiting to get them mind. Nicest looking cranks shimano made and with a decent BB very light too.

Price? I’m looking for some, preferably with a 4-arm spider

Velo Orange do nice square taper cranks

NBT, the only 4 arm spider I have is a weird offset, I cant remember why I seem to recall that but I would need to find them to confirm. I have no idea what they are worth but I can’t be arsed to look for them if the answer is not a lot 😉
