Most dangerous was driving around back roads too fast on a rainy night, ended up going straight over a t-junction and into the verge, missing a sign post by a few metres. A few seconds later a car went past – could have gone straight into the side of it. Very very lucky to get away with just £100 for a new radiator and a tin of isopon to fix up my bumper! Now I don’t drive fast unless it’s a dry day and I know the road.

Living on the top floor of an Edinburgh new town tenement. I accidentally locked myself out while knowing I’d left a dormer window open. Rather than have to get a locksmith, I knocked on the neighbours door and climbed out onto the roof from their rooftop window, and crept across the slates to my open window to get back in.

I wouldn’t hesitate to call a locksmith next time.

Jumping in a shopping trolley at 4am in the morning (very drunk) and proceeding down a very steep hill whilst stood up…..it was one of those shallow trolleys so I was quite high up with no real protection, eventually I hit a kerb and my face hit the floor first and acted as a makeshift brake!

    Or

Trying to stop a buzz from our electric shower by sticking a screwdriver down the side of the motor. After several trips from my perch on the side of the bath tub to the main power switch on the landing and back, I got impatient and thought ‘one last go with the power on!’
Stupid me had my finger on the screwdriver shaft! My hand spasm’d tight around the driver, then my arm went stiff, then my heart started to hurt as my whole upper body went tense. Luckily I managed to walk backwards down the bath top before falling off on to the bathroom floor!

I tried to swim out to some rocks whilst in Tenerife which doesn’t sound too bad, but I’m not a strong swimmer and it was about 200m out to the rocks, the tide was going out, I’d dislocated by collarbone about 6 weeks beforehand which meant my shoulder didn’t really work, and I’d had a few bevvies.
I made it out to the rocks ok, rested on the rocks for about 30 minutes whilst getting cut up by the jagged rocks, and then made it about half way back to the beach before I started to sink.
thankfully my mate was able to drag me back to shore at which point we lay on the sand for about an hour unable to move through exhaustion.
when we could stand up we went and got well and truly bladdered in celebration of life 😀

+1 for getting shot at, never fun and I try not to do it these days.

Another was deciding to take a short cut across a sand and mud bay with a creek on a lonely bit of a quiet island, got sucked in to my waist and escaped on my belly.

Pure scariest thing was hopping on a ski lift with no bar and a wriggling three year old, think I aged twenty years in three minutes.

    Not me but…
I caught a 1st year apprentice at work welding whilst stood on an open 25 litre drum of highly flamable paint thinners. 😯
Not the smartest I think you’ll agree. 😀
