    Is he still around?

His page used to sell a light – Fluxient Elite S3 – that I wish I’d bought. It has all the features I wanted, and a reasonable price:
    http://www.torchythebatteryboy.com
It no longer seems to be for sale anywhere. I’ve emailed Torchy’s page but not had any reply.

What I’m after is a decent, bright light which is StVZO compliant. I’ve got a good bright light that illuminates everything, and a decent head torch, but I’m worried about blinding oncoming users. I’ve also got a cheap StVZO light, but it doesn’t really light things up much.
I’d like something sort of in-between: shows me where I’m going without annoying others, mid price – say about 40 to 70 quid, tough enough to last through a couple of winters. Any suggestions gratefully received, there are no stupid answers*

    * there are, of course, but I like to read them

    I have one of these

    60 odd quid from Tredz

Totally changed my views and experience on bike lighting. Loving it. I can actually see a clear even view of the road ahead rather than a fuzzy bright glare. Cutoff is very effective. Not strictly stvzo I don’t think, but a proper wide, square beam and a remote button that cycles modes and ‘high beam’ (emitter no 2) which is really useful. I now have it on a fork crown bracket which makes it even better.

Think there are some mini review threads on here if you search around. It’s certainly tough, I dropped my bike one night and the light took the impact. Broke the (plastic) mount and put a little dent in the alloy of the unit didn’t skip a beat and new mount sorted it.

Are there any StVZO headlamps for Magicshine or equivalent battery packs? As it will soon be winter commuting time I’m after a light that will give 10 hours run time ( a week between charges ) – the commute is on canals so I want it lit up, I really don’t want to dazzle oncoming cyclists as it’s a pet hate of mine.

Last I spoke to him, he was pretty much flat out keeping up with vape demand

I’ve a small stvzo light on my road bike and it’s amazing how effective it is given how little output it has.  I think it’s a 15lux one from B&M, and has more throw and more usable light than my solarstorm X2, for road riding.

Thanks everyone, some good suggestions there. I really like the look of the Raveman, but I’m also grateful for the Bike24 link – there’s loads of good stuff on there.
