Before work this morning (yes I'm working on a Sunday ) I switched on MTV2.

Biggest! Hottest! Loudest! Yay, that'll wake me up.

So I sat through MGMT, Florence and the Machine, Bat for Lashes and a couple of other tracks that I could only describe as lightweight, almost easy listening. Certainly not LOUDEST!

MTV2 used to be the channel I turned on to listen to alternative rock (for want of a better term) or metal of some description. Now it's almost a celebration of 80s synth pop revivalists.

Where has all the heavier music gone? Have I turned into a dinosaur?

    Forget that rubbish.
Tune into some of the radio stations available – I like to partake of a bit of Planet Rock on most Sundays when I'm at home (0110 on Sky)

I think it will be a bit like the football league: once upon a time Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea played in the first division. Which is now played in by some less rich and successful teams.

Soon enough they will bring out an MTV3, or MTV xtreme or somethingorother, which will be just like mtv 20 years ago and mtv2 8 years ago. 🙂
