  • What’s a good horror /thriller film on Netflix?

    Open to suggestions really.
I’ve seen most classic horror films and the Netflix suggestions don’t seem to tally up…

    Saw VI

Avengeance isn’t a horror as such but is kick ass with loadsa gory moments and an alright plot to match

I liked eli, but I’ve already seen it, seen the ritual.

I’ve not heard of the invitation though..

Maybe I didn’t specify the type of horror film correctly.
I’m not interested in gratuitous gore.
    I’ve seen most horror films.

Is there anything new and original on Netflix?

Orphan was pretty good, more of a thriller.

The most horrific and gripping thing I’ve ever watched on any platform is “Don’t **** with cats” on Netflix. If you’ve not seen it I’m not sure I could recommend it as it’s pretty disturbing in places but it’s compelling viewing.

It’s not a film, but it’s only 3 hours so you can easily watch it in one go.

Calibre, thriller about a shooting trip in the Scottish highlands.

    Tense is an understatement.

    Blue Ruin

Came here to say Blue Ruin. Saw it at the cinema years ago and just saw it pop up on Netflix.

It’s not a horror and I can’t fully remember it. I remember thinking it’s what would happen if a normal person tried to exact revenge on someone in real life, rather than a juiced up vigilante action hero that you’ve seen a million times before.

    Might rewatch it.

Calibre was worth the watch. Wasn’t sure how it would pan out all along.

You is an alright watch but the tension wasn’t maintained in the 2nd series and was laughable at times so wouldn’t call it horror… more something for couples to watch.

I think Triangle (2009) is an under rated movie.

Good spot on Blue Ruin, really enjoyed Green Room and Hold The Dark.

Destroyer (recent one from Karen Kusama, director of The Invitation) is worth a watch, more of a psychological thriller.

Also You Were Never Really Here.

Second season of You is shite.

I watched two ep’s and they both really bored/annoyed me.

    IMHO.

Calibre is very good. Shocking and unsettling.

‘Dark’ is amazing if you can deal with subtitles/the bad dubbing, as it’s German. More scifi than horror but really tense and atmospheric, the soundtrack is great also.

    Dark is pretty epic.

Calibre, Ritual, Invitation, Blue Ruin are all excellent shouts.

All the Money in the World for true story thrills. (Ridley Scott)

Horror: Hush, The Perfection for bonkers twisted horror, Under The Shadow for unusual horror. Ghost Story for Brit horror.

    Strangers for simple grimness.

I watched it following reviews on here I think. I thought it was dreadful 😳

    Watched The Nightingale last night.

Not easy to watch in places but thought it was excellent.

Same director as Babadook I think.

Is The Snowman any good? I remember it being heavily trailed at the cinema and then didn’t hear anything about it. It has the Fassbender in it so prob pretty watchable..

Fractured is a lovely little tense thriller, and I’ve noticed that Breakdown is in there which I remember really enjoying lots of years back

Snowman starts off okay but gets seriously mixed up. Not a patch on the book – but the setting is great and so is Rebecca Ferguson!

We just watched ‘The Perfection’. Brilliantly twisted and unpredictable. It’s mental.

    Is The Snowman any good?

    No. It is not.

It was one of the most incoherent movies I’ve ever watched.

Yep, loved the perfection. So many bonkers twists and a refreshingly worthwhile conclusion!
