So I placed an order with a well known online retailer for an umbrella (i know its sunny but it was in the sales and it wont be sunny for ever). Anyway said umbrella turns up today and i open the box…..low and behold they have sent me a box of 10 umbrellas, not just the 1 I ordered. Double checked the invoice in the box and it’s for just 1. Do  I

    A) return the unwanted umbrellas, i know it rains but who needs 10 umbrellas.

    B) that’s the entire families Christmas sorted, umbrellas all round?

    What would STW do?

    I’d contact them personally.

Agree with Drac. Although would triple check the invoice first.

    C. Google “unsolicited goods”.

If you do return them it’s up them to arrange collection that suits you.

Why is this even a question?

Its not unsolicited goods in the eyes of the law

contact the retailer and tell them — but they must pay P&P or get them collected.

I was going to ask what you would do with the 9 umbrellas, but Perchy has made a pretty good suggestion.

If they were sold and dispatched by Amazon then I’d keep them. If sold by another comapny, I’d drop them a line.

Contact them and let them know, they may just tell you to keep them or they may collect them.

What would you want somebody to do if it was the other way round? <span class=”ILfuVd yZ8quc”>Treat other people how you would wish to be treated yourself.</span>

Amazon are normally pretty good and just tell you to keep items, certainly have with me,

If they realise and you haven’t contacted then they can look at prosecution.

I said A) but wife was calling for B). So it’s a trip to the post office to return them with a clear conscious. I hope (rhymes with giggle) appreciate me doing so.

I can’t believe you need to come on her to ask. The answer’s obvious.
